An Item Comparison Suggestion

It’s annoying that I can’t tell how new weapons/gear will change the DPS of my skills, so I have a suggestion:
When mousing over a piece of gear that changes your equipped skill’s DPS; it shows that above that skill.

IE: I’m looking at a new weapon. It lowers Swipe’s DPS from 65 to 59. This is what I see on my skill bar, above Swipe:
59 (DPS of weapon being compared. it would be in red, because it’s lower.)
65 (Current DPS. It would be in green, since it’s higher)
Swipe

Or, I’m looking at a new weapon. It raises Swipe’s DPS from 65 to 70:
70 (New DPS of compared weapon. it’s in green because it’s higher)
65 (Current DPS. It’s in red because it’s lower than the compared weapon’s)
Swipe

This is how all item comparisons should be. It makes it easier to see how they affect your skills without needing to equip them and mouse over said skill, then re-equip your old skill if it was better.

Welcome to the forums…

Sure, sounds like a perfectly normal suggestion… perhaps this should be in the Feedback section though…

Another point to make as you may be a new player (new forum member assumption)… The DPS tooltips are currently very unreliable due to bugs and various other things e.g. situational effects which are not considered. I would suggest you dont place too much weight on the actual number shown. I would recommend you test things on the dummies (or real enemies) to get a better actual figure to compare.

A revamp of the character sheet and dps tooltips was promised a long time ago now, but it got pushed back in favour of the Multiplayer launch.

Thank you for the greeting and information.
Sorry if I put it in the wrong place; I looked for a ‘Suggestions’ option from the drop-down list when making my thread, and did not see it. That’s my bad.

I played the game a year + ago, and even long before that, but only in fits and spurts, so I can be considered a new player after all these updates (This is my first time seeing the revamped intro quest line).

I’ll leave this open for now, rather than spam it by making a new thread in the Suggestion subform, but if a mod wants to move it, or locks this and asks me to repost there; I will.

That’s what the Skill DPS tooltip is for. Swap the item & see how the tooltip DPS changes.

My suggestion is to cut down on needing to swap, check, and swap back if it’s worse.
It also saves on gold, since needing to equip said weapon you may be comparing, right now, means buying it.

I get that.

A)the vast majority of your gear is going to come from drops & while I really don’t like the “if you’re doing X you’re doing it wrong” (especially with newer players), it’s very unlikely that you’ll get an upgrade from a vendor after the first few chapters & b)you’ll be getting quite a lot of gold later on.
