Nope, it was introduced in 0.7.9 at 30 points.
whack, either way it doesn’t change that the necromancer is about minions by design, or that dread shade itself is a build crippling spell.
Yeah, we have very different views on that (unsurprisingly), so, moving swiftly on…
By the time you get Dread Shade, the minimum skill level you get at the start should be at least 5, so you can have Dread Shade be non-draining completely from the start with no negative downsides.
When I see these complaints, I’m hearing “I want to have a permanent minion army be just as strong as the other A- to S- tier builds without having to worry about anything other than buffing my minions to do good damage.” Unless there are some class-specific affixes that raise the minion count considerably (like the Unique Staff that gives you more Wraiths, but has the awful draining effect which makes it worthless), why should a basic 5 minion skill build be as powerful as other highly-thought out builds that have perfect gear and passive synergy?
I’m not arguing that the passive tree is great (there’s a lot more synergy that could be added, especially concerning the Wraiths since it is their mastery skill), but there’s a lot more that can be done with the Necromancer than how these threads are perceiving it.
Are people honestly still caring about multiplayer in the current year?
That never really works well in any aRPG as people tend to have different clear speed and what happens is that one player clears ahead and the others just run behind and collect loot.
Everyone wants to be the fastest, thats the nature of the genre and no one will realistically force themself to be as slow as the weakest link in the chain.
Seems pretty boring but to each their own.
How well do you think it would go if the devs left all unintentionally powerful builds as they were then with the MP patch they nerfed them to an acceptable level? Do you think that might have a bit of an impact on how people perceived MP?
It may be unfashionable but I still care about multiplayer in 2021. xD

Good that you (and the 4 others) likes it. What makes LE’s MP it so exciting?
Maybe i have missed something but as far we know its the usual standard monster HP/dmg scaling per player and no new involving game mechanics that are only available in MP.
So the decades old who runs the fastest and let their party members play loot goblin.
I like playing with my friends!
Cool but whats special about LEs MP?
Dont let kid ourselfs its still mainly a solo aRPG where the teased MP doest not bring anything new to the table, except the same old boring monster dmg/life scaling in MP.
Are people really enjoying being boosted or just running behind some speedster?
I mean to each their own but that does not sound like a lot of fun.
I like Last Epoch. I want to play a game I like with friends. Is that really so hard to accept at face value?
No one is holding you back to play MP.
Have fun as long it may last.
Maybe the REAL overarching theme of the necromancer isn’t just minions, but sacrificing them for great benefit. Abomination seems to still fail on that level, but Sacrifice and Volatile Zombie doesn’t seem too bad (Although Volatile isn’t necro specific). The generic Acolyte skills could mostly be put into specific trees, but whatever.
if that’s what they want, then they reeeeealy messed up the “benefits” part.
Err… yeah. What?
This is just one scenario that naturally happens. Its not something that kills ANY arpg, that I’ve heard anyway. Meh. I dislike this too, but not a reason to not have/want MP imo.
Disagree, then agree. You’ve said your piece. Your stance is known. Everyone else, continue!
@Zarono I feel your passion on the necro and agree with (most) various rants and points you’ve made. Keep at it, as this is all making great conversation. You even have Llama doing the dot dot dot thing lol.
No, I’ve done that for decades.
I’m really sorry. I did not know i hit a nerve here (which the selective passive aggressive quoting confirms).
Im not holding you back in enjoying MP. Thats only you. You made clear you may like it or dont care if its implemented. Thats obsolutely fine.
Sweet!
By saying things like “I don’t care so you shouldn’t, too” you always hit a nerve.
Turning complaints into a problem that’s upon the author of the complaint to solve by just not using the feature, won’t work the long term.
LE is sold as an ARPG with MP feature. So people expect it to work for both player bases, the single player and the MP dudes.
If you follow this games social media you will recognize that there’s a huge demand for MP. Even if there’s no special features, just plain coop with friends or strangers. There are a lot of people that like coop gaming.
With Necro, especially the massive Wraith builds, there was always the fear, that this might kill performance for MP, since the builds already were performance killers in SP.
I like playing a Necro with a large number of minions. And I want to play with buddies, too.
Making or leaving a class in a spot where having this class in a MP party impacts the gameplay of everybody in the group negatively will certainly result in discriminatory behaviour. We saw this with Outriders, recently, where people got kicked out of the group because they played Devastator what was a underperforming class in terms of clearspeed. And when people complained about it they got told “go play solo or just make some friends that don’t kick you” - also turning the problem around.
For Wraiths I’m very certain that it was never intended to have more than 100. Back in the days there were builds that were advertised like “50+ Wraiths”. Then we got 100+, 200+, no idea where the end was before patch. This all came with implementing more and more stuff that increased player power, like new items/bases, blessings, exalted rarity and so on.
It would have been better to have addressed the Wraith problem some time earlier, before it got out of hand and the current nerf was that drastic. People called for a Wraith cap months or even years ago. I remember a topic where we talked about hard capping all kinds of stuff (minions, damage, everything…) to not get broken builds that trigger a shitstorm when they finally (and certainly legitimately) get nerfed.
