An alternative suggestion for the proposed Pinnacle Boss release plan

I am staunchly against gating content behind cycles. I think that all content moving forward should be released on both cycle and legacy at the same time. I understand that this is current plan for the time being, but I would like it to become a permanent stance. I voted “Strongly Disagree” on the proposed plan for the Pinnacle Boss release.

However, I understand that you want to make the boss release feel special on cycles, and that you have an incentive to entice players to come back to the game with something new and fresh.

Rather than time-gate the Pinnacle Boss for legacy, why not create a cycle-only leaderboard that tracks how long it’s taken since cycle start for a player to defeat the boss? This way it will showcase those that have had to start fresh in order to beat the boss while still allowing legacy players to enjoy the content immediately and test the strength of their existing builds on this newest boss. I also think this could give the people who enjoy speedrunning something to strive for.

i too am against content gating but i am actually fine with pinnacle bosses being locked behind cycle accomplishments.

the reason being is i would prefer if LHE had a proper chance to balance the encounter out before being released on permanent.

this is the big contention i have AGAINST POE. their end game bosses can be very interesting but usually they are catered around the top 0.01% of players.

having newer bosses fully tested out in a cycle setting gives EHG a little breathing room to allow balancing and allow EHG to temper their expectations on the skill level/player power that they feel should warrant the pinnacle boss kill.

that said, the existence of pinnacle bosses worry me a little. pinnacle bosses tend to be really hard. if youre a weak player or prefer to make a yolo jank ass build, you might be locked out of the drops if you’re COF.

giving EHG time to monitor player’s capabilities on clearing pinnacle bosses can be a good thing.

If we are talking about leaderboards, I think that learning from showcases or even trying the boss yourself with another character is cheating, so I’m against it.

I don’t care about the whole racing scene. But I do care about the game being alive. Most people play after the new content release. If they try it immediately with a powerful legacy character, they will leave very soon. Legacy bazaar prices are too high, I want to enjoy the fresh cycle economy, and for that there should be enough MG cycle players.

I think adding a delay of week or two is not a big deal. I get that you want to try the new content ASAP, but if you’re planning to stay on legacy, you probably shouldn’t want to rush things, but rather take your time and progress slowly but steadily.

It’s certainly better than POE style of not having new content in standard at all for many leagues.

This will most likely change with 1.1 when all the cycle items in the bazaar are transferred to legacy. With the flood of new items, prices will tend to lower once again.
The gold dupe bug hit both markets hard. Cycle bazaar will be fixed with 1.1 reset, legacy bazaar will take a little longer to stabilize as cycle gear gets dumped there.

It will be interesting to see how the market will stabilize.
In PoE, standard has considerably higher prices compared to the seasonal league, but the system of PoE is a lot different compared to what LE has.
Still, I do expect high-end items to be much more expensive, just because legacy players are going to be a lot richer., and they are going to be able to just buy out all low priced items as soon as the cycle becomes legacy.

That’s kinda the point of pinnacle bosses.

Only if people delist & relist all of their old stuff. I don’t see that happening. Flooding the market with high price items isn’t going to do anything to suggest to people to lower their prices.

I haven’t checked prices lately, but at some point prices in legacy were higher than in cycle, because there was a lot more offer there, since less people play legacy.
My statement was based on that condition of less expensive items suddenly flooding legacy market.

Aren’t pinnacle bosses for pinnacle players or do we go down the D4 road where pinnacle bosses are pushovers everyone can do?

If it’s the first then it’s bad because it only offers content for a friction of the playerbase and if it’s the second they could’ve saved their time and made meaningfull content for everyone.

I get it there needs to be some emaningfull endgame content to look out for but adding one pinncale boss is the wrong way in my eyes. At least name it differently because look at it… uber Lilith is still called a pinnacle boss in D4 and this didn’t age well at all. On top of it if they implement a pinnacle boss a Forgeguard should be able to kill it would be a laughingstock for all other masteries.

I personaly think the timing and naming is awefull when they didn’t even balance their game well and haven’t finished all classes or even the storyline. Maybe it’s just a language thing and pinnacle means something different then reaching the climax of content… and if we do this in 1.1 then WTF? Or do we get another boss that will get another layer of artificial dmg reduction so it stays relevant?

I wish they offer more content for anyone instead of throwing on big bad in our way that is most likely killed 72h into a cycle.

That’s quite an assumption. The pinnacle boss is not the only piece of new content coming with the next cycle. If that were the case, then a simple delay would not prevent your concern there.

I’ll choose to play however I like, thank you.

looks like leaderboards coming in 1.3 if i translated the timeline stargate properly
