Hello my name is Rencol and I’m altoholic.
It has been 2 days since I made another alt character.
I’m Ghost and I have 21 Alts.
Lowest level of those is 60.
19 of them are over level 90, and quite a few are 100.
Previous to 1.0, the Alt count online was limited to 20. Because I had that restriction I have also deleted about a dozen Alts in my time, many of whom were over level 90.
Help me…
… decide what build to try next…
I have a 91 sorcerer and no alts. I am here to offer support and guidance. May Eterra be with you.
I’ve always been an altoholic. But I’m the worse kind. I get builds running, reach early endgame (in this case finish empowered monos) and then dump that char and make a new one. I have about 15 characters, only a couple are 90 or higher and none have ever reached even corruption 150 because I switch to a new character before that.
For each class, make a build that uses exactly:
-1 skill from base class
-The skill you get exclusive to your mastery
-1 skill from each of the 3 masteries
Hi Ghost! I see you are more severe case than I am. I got into the addiction only like 2 weeks before the release.
The alt limit prohibition affects us all.
I have strong dislike towards “meta” builds and tend to theorycraft my own niche builds, which often turns out very fun and effective.
My favourite ones are - shuriken falconer with 100% glancing blow and stacking heal on glancing blow
Pure poison dancing strikes dagger bladedancer with passive firetraps on melee hit that spawn pool acid flasks
Bleed ghost flame LICH
If you didn’t try these ones out you got alts to make
arent there only 5 classes with 3 masteries each? That’s a total of 5x3 = 15 … how in the world di you get to 21 alts?
You are aware that each mastery can have many different builds, right? Not everyone likes to simply respec to switch builds. They’d rather make a new character. Which is why we’re altoholics.
if it makes you happy lol … seems like a respec is a lot easier. But then, each spec has it’s own gear etc. so yea I can see that
edit: but i still think you guys are nuts
It’s not about being easy. Most of my fun in ARPGs is simply creating a new build and seeing it grow. I always spec into my builds as soon as possible, even if there are more optimal leveling builds. I just love seeing my build growing up in power.
Play Hardcore, that way you can play the same build twice without taking a character slot!
now that’s using your noodle
On it…
Due to the build depth in this game, many masteries offer builds that are so different from each other in not only playstyle but gearing, everything. That they could be different masteries. Hence respeccing would not only have been a major operation, but I like to play those at will and not need that major operation every time. Respeccing would be like deleting the char in a way. I have, for example, got 5 Necros in that collection and only one Forge Guard. (And now that I think about it, I have zero Sorcs or Spellblades).
Bingo.
A true kindred spirit. Much as I often complain about the boredom of doing the campaign or standard monos for the xth time, I actually love that part of the game. Watching (and feeling) the build’s growth, and the little increments coming thick and fast. Love it.
Yup yup. I’m starting to worry about picking up uniques, because with every unique can come an idea for a new character.
I’m Revelasti. I haven’t even gotten to empowered since 1.0 because I keep making alts. I think this one will make it though.
