Have not played LE since beginning of S1 for a little bit and I remember getting kind of frustrated with CoF and how long it took to get all the cold/frostbite-related items I needed for my build.
People said at the time I should have gone with MG but I’m not even sure anymore.
Can we freely trade with other CoF/MG players? I recall something about item tags for ach faction but kinda forget the restrictions.
I also recall some items didn’t have any faction tag for some unknown reason?
Secondly, just wondering if S2 or current S3 has brought any new cold-related or frostbite items for the Rogue or general use?
I think back in S1 I managed to get a 3LP Reign of Winter bow, but someone in chat told me that’s not too great for frostbite/DoT.
Thx for the help ya’ll
Items you aquire while in CoF due to CoF bonuses will have a CoF tag which means you can’t use them if you aren’t CoF. Items you purchase while in MG will also be tagged so you can’t use them while in CoF. Basically the best approach is to pick a faction based on how you want to aquire new gear and stick with it. I prefer finding my own loot rather than buying it, so I stick to CoF. Others like the convenience of being able to buy exactly what they want, but both have their grinds.
Just want to extend what Revelasti said above:
All items that drop while CoF, even if not tagged as CoF, can’t be traded with MG. So you can’t give it to an alt in MG and sell the item.
You can, however, still wear it on your MG character or even give it to an MG friend, as long as it doesn’t get tagged.
As for pros and cons of each, if you want a specific unique from the general drop pool, MG will be easier. But CoF will be easier to get exalted gear to slam into them.
MG is probably a bit dead at the moment as well, due to lower player numbers. You might still get some good stuff in legacy, though.
