Adjustable Skill Transparency & Visual Clarity Improvements

Dear EHG,

First, I want to say how much I’m enjoying Last Epoch—especially this season as a Paladin! The Judgement skill (with its Cosmic cosmetic) feels incredibly satisfying, though I’ve noticed it can become overly bright and visually distracting in dense encounters or group play. After testing all in-game settings, I still struggle with screen clutter, particularly from:

  1. Floor-targeted skills (both player and enemy abilities, especially deadly AoE effects).
  2. Particle-heavy skills (like Judgement’s Cosmic VFX) that obscure mechanics during prolonged play sessions.
  3. Group play visuals, where overlapping effects make it hard to track threats.

After 1,000+ hours across ARPGs, I’ve never seen a game offer true transparency controls for skill effects—yet Last Epoch feels like the perfect title to pioneer it. You’ve already set yourselves apart with player-friendly systems (loot filters, offline mode, etc.), so here’s my dream QoL ask:

Suggested Improvements:

  • Adjustable transparency sliders for skill effects (separate toggles for player/party/enemy skills).
  • Optional “minimalist” VFX modes for high-intensity abilities (e.g., reduced brightness/particles on Cosmic Judgement).
  • Priority highlighting for deadly enemy skills (e.g., thicker outlines or clearer telegraphs).

As someone who plays 6+ hours daily, these changes would greatly improve readability and reduce eye strain. The game’s combat is phenomenal, but fine-tuning visual clarity would make marathon sessions even more enjoyable.

Thanks for your hard work—I’m excited to see where Last Epoch goes next!

Best,
Carter
