Addressing the squishiness of pet classes

could we get a class mastery on necromancer and beastmaster that allow them to benefit from some degree of their minion stats? since these classes are designed to want to maximize their minions, it makes it a really backwards descision to force them to decide between minion hp/dmg/regen/dodge, etc versus their own defensive stats to simply survive.

so i propose that necromancer and beastmasters get a mastery bonus or at least a second tier talent (that way the other classes wouldn’t have access to it) that allows them to benefit from 50% of their own minion stats.

Well that is part of the archetype, you’re squishy because you have your minions to tank & distract the mobs for you.

That said, thematically you could have some form of “bond” with your minions & split the buff sharing into either various passive nodes or nodes on the skill trees or sometHing.

Edit: Having the sharing node below the fold wouldn’t be too bad since non-pet builds aren’t going to have much in the way of pet affixes/bonuses to share.

the fantasy is solid, i just don’t believe it’s intended that anything past level 50 will either one shot you for going minion damage, or one shot your minons because you took defensive stats.

Well, good thing that’s not what happens then…

I have to say I agree with Zarono.

The real problem is the mobs tagged [Focus on attacking Players]. So if you have beefed up your minions, these mobs ignore them and attack your avatar. And with next to no defence, you’ll die faster than you can react!

It would look like a one hit, as you wouldn’t be able to see all the multiply hits, hit you all at once.

So some sort of synergy needs to exist between the Beastmaster/Necromancer, which allows player and minions to share stats/damage etc.

From what i have played the pet classes (necro, beastmaster) the minions, companions are VERY STRONG in early game and during the campaign but as you go higher into the monolith and arena runs they don’t scale and these runs become a pain to progress.
It would be nice if in 1 of the next patches the minions/companions get a buff so that they still be useful at higher levels.

they could just make them scale way harder off of intellect, make them have health based on your player health, and etcetera, and just remove minion only stats alltogether (or just leave them to unique affixes) and that’d also help mitigate the current situation

Would also be possible to nerve minions/companions base stats and give them some impactful scaling passives in the specialisation tree that are unlocked at higher levels.

i would like some sort of bond or connection with minions that allow you to do that. It would make gearing these characters a lot more end-game-viable. They can still be really strong by the way, but for your average Joe end game character (my type of end-game character) you run into gearing issues if you don’t have a stash full of gear already.
