I been reading alot of the forum the underlining theme is "small underdog company doesn’t has the resources to do aka Gender Choice or other requests and feedbacks. While i absolutely understand this, I think you could try better to increase funds coming in.
Add in game donation option, this way hardcore and newbies will have at least a thought to support LE development, I have donated to games in the past just because i had the money to spare and it was the only thing i was interested in at the time. But tho games had a in game option to donate, which will make the “me” the player feel like it’s helping improve.
Now I understand there is supporter packs but the cheapest one is $35 which it’s like you are buying the game and getting one pet. If there a 1000 players and each one donates $2 that $2000 to your budget. You can offer 2 cosmetic points per $1 donation while beta is still beta.
Also Show donation and supportive pack at character select screen to remind us the player we still have along way till we have a complete game. Having a link to donations might help make more mollah.
IMO, if they did what PoE does & has smaller packs for just points, that’d be ok. Also, the minimum would need to be at least $5, if it went as low as $1 the transaction fees would take most of it & I know I’d love to throw my money at the merchant services companies (Mastercard/Visa/etc)…
I’m not sure if this is a thing for too many people right now. People are afraid of an EA game not delivering what they expect. I appreciate your attitude here, but I doubt that it will raise that much money right now (just my personal opinion).
I myself are absolutely confident with the supporter packs. I already upgraded once and might do it an additional time. I donate for non profit organisations like WWF (not Wrestling). When people are going to make profit with help of my donation, I want something back. If its cosmetics in a computer game or just a product that is fun… I need the feeling that it is worth the money. I won’t ever purely donate to organisations that make profit.
If you are interested in donating money besides the current availible supporter packs, you might contact support directly. I’m sure there will be a way to do so.
I reall can’t speak on behalf of EHG, but i think “just donating” as a player is not their mindset, they do want to deliver you something.
I am pretty sure that we will get option for smaller monetarily support once the cosmetic shop is implemented.
But i think EHG just has different priorities currently.
I will not spend another dime on the game untill it’s finished. i want to see where the whole development is going because I was pretty comfused from time totime. I’m pretty happy with the game but not convinced.
Median XL is free to play on custom severs this D2 mod they have constantly release new content… So I feel yes my donation have helped make it better… recently they just added treasure goblins to the newest Ladder. If dev are worried about possible EA or cyberpunk issues on release then they are not confident in what there doing. All you have to do release new content buggy or not every 6 months. If it’s playable then most people will be happy
I bought twice. Once during Alpha. Once during Beta. Most likely when the game officially releases, I’ll do it again. I like the game enough and do not mind in the slightest trying to give them a boost up no matter how ‘tough’ it is for them. I did the same with Grim Dawn, another game I find sublime.
That said, some things about micro-donations, like $1 or something like that, may actually be more problematic for them because of the fees they may have to pay for transactions. Like when small non-chain convenient stores ask you to do a minimum transaction if using a credit card because they have to pay a 3% (or higher) fee on every transaction they process.
NOTE: I HAVE NO IDEA IF THIS IS TRUE, BUT IT’S A THOUGHT TO CONSIDER IF WE DON’T KNOW HOW THEY HAVE TO HANDLE TRANSACTIONS.
One of the things I did in my first job (as an accounts #####) was to take the bill from Mastercard (a big ream of paper like the old dot matrix printer paper) & type it in to excel, that broke down the transaction fees which were split into a % of the transaction (for credit cards I think) & a flat fee per transaction (for debit cards). It was something like 1%-3% or 35p per transaction (back in the early 2000s).
So yes, it’s entirely possible that a surprising % of low value transactions would get eaten up with the merchant services fees.
