Great job on making a fun and creative class. However, running a minion build can be quite tedious when it comes to managing the minions:
- The minion icons are always in a different order because it’s based on when you spawned them in. As you spawn new ones in, everything is moved around. This makes it difficult to scan the list of minion icons because you can’t fix your eyes to where you would expect the icons to be. Imagine if your skill bar at the bottom kept changing order for instance, but you needed to look at each skill to know when the cooldown finished. It would be impractical right, yet that’s what we must do to manage minions.
- The combination of different types of minions under one skill makes things much worse when it comes to minion management. Summon Skeleton is the worst offender… You have to total in your head constantly between archers, warriors, and rogues to know if you have them all spawned in. Even more frustrating is that these counts are always shifting as you spawn new ones in. Combine that with the fact that the icons are always moving – yikes. If I have 9 total, I have to scan my whole list of minions and total all 3 groups to know if they are all spawned in.
- There is no great way to know if your minions have low health without enabling power bars for all of them, all of the time, which clutters up the screen to where you can’t see anything at all. This forces you to constantly respawn them, especially between arena waves, to make sure they aren’t about to die.
- There is no way that (that I am aware of) to see if effects (good or bad) are on my minions. It would be great to be able to tell that they are poisoned, frenzied, etc.
- Noticing a minion type (e.g.: skeletal mages) is dead is also quite annoying with the ordering of the icons always changing and the fact that the minion icons are somewhat similar.
Some suggestions:
- Show all possible minions based on gear and abilities in a given location at the top (or even let people customize it). Make the locations fixed. Have the icons grey out if no minions of that type are spawned in.
- Show a counter of # spawned vs. not for each type. For example a label that has (3 of 5) or (3/5) to denote 3 of 5 Skeletal Mages are spawned in. That way you know two are dead.
- PLEASE combine Summon Skeleton into one icon. I even got rid of Rogues on my tree because 3 icons to total and track all the time is so annoying. I would recommend showing one icon and then having 3 smaller icons on the right of it to denote the individual types. Or just make something where you can hover over the icon and see the individual types in a tooltip. That way if I have 9, I can look at one icon and not have to total 3 icons that keep moving around.
- Please add a way to hover over the icons and see what effects on are each minion along with their power. So if I hover over mages, it would show me my list of mages, their health and the effects applied to them. Or give me a way to hold alt or something over the skeleton and see their health and effects, etc. Like I mentioned above, keeping on the power bars for all minions clutters up the screen too much.
