Acolyte - Feedback and Suggestions

EHG, thank you yet again for this nice little game. Game has come a long way since I last left feedback. Things are looking great. There are a number of things I have wanted to say for a while but figured why bother, I doubt the devs will read this. Here are a few of my observations.

Acolyte Animations.
Bravo! well done. The Acolytes animations were always below par and very unsatisfying. Both times they have been changed. The last version was very annoying and unrealistic with that weird off hand posture and running animation. Nobody runs with their hand held out like that. Thanks for changing that. I have to say, looking at the new acolyte run with a sword and off hand catalyst, She looks perfect. She easily has the best and most realistic running animation of all characters.

Harvest
This skill has gotten a few visual updates by is still lacking. Sound update is good, but the skill still looks like an alpha build. Looks and feels bad to play. In truth, awful to play. First, the animation is extremely painful to watch. Cringe inducing. She swings in one direction which looks very unrealistic, and really breaks skill immersion. I would suggest she swings back and forth to start. Left, right, left, right. Further, the skill would feel more fun to play if it was similar to melee cinder strike and Rive. Three fun and quick animations. Add some more fun nodes in the tree. I would suggest adding a node that makes harvest emit waves of death. Like flurry or flame reave.

Skills
Acolyte does not have a lot of skills that are fun to play or feel fun to play without being overly tedious. Non temporary Minions and death seal aside, I struggle to find fun skills in her tree to play. The fun comes from great animations, sound and effects and skill mechanics. She has no melee options. A few more melee additions would go a long way to making the class feel complete.

Summon skeletons
I would suggest adding a node similar to summon skeleton mage. Provide an option to summon one mega archer who can fire multiple projectiles (fire or ice arrow) with no cooldown. Maybe reduce the damage of fire and ice arrow a lil bit to compensate. Why not add a node for one mega warrior as well? Open the skill up please. Allow more build diversity.
Volatile zombie
Temporary minions are the bane of my existance. Provide a node that removes life decay. Allowing zombies to remail until they detonate on a target. Also consider adding a node that removes detonation. Zombies remain and just puke on enemies or deal melee fire damage. This will open up the skill alot more. Personally I hate temporary minions. They are tedious to play.
Wandering Spirits
Skill is tedious to play and the lack of a targeted play style really holds the skill back. Add a node that makes them permanent. Maybe set a capped number. Make them permanent and make them follow the acolyte where she goes. This will open up the skill some more and provide more build diversity.
Dread Shade
Not sure how you would implement this one. Please provide a way to choose which minion gets targeted by this skill if possible. When playing with controller and multiple minions, its impossible to select the minion you wish to buff. Having this ability will make this skill more tactical and situational and will open up alot of necromancer minion configurations. Currently the skill feels mandatory which is not good. (I am not saying nerf it). Please provide additional ways to buff minions. A minion build without this skill is dead in the water. Just an observation. a suggestion would be a minion skill or two that buff other minions. Lets say maybe a skeleton general of some sort that provides buffs to other minions. Competition to dread shade. Maybe even a necromancer skill focused on minion support.
My two cents.

From another Acolyte main, you should try playing fire minion build with Volatile Zombie as your main attack. You get some unique gear later on that makes it more interesting. Mixing and matching different minion types becomes easier and a lot of fun because by lategame respecing your skills becomes a relatively quick process. You also get a LOT of bonus skill points from gear that you can spend around to make your skills more interesting.

To that end, I’ve had the opposite experience as far as finding fun builds to play. LE allows a lot of possibilities. The amount of creativity this game allows is a lot greater than several others that come to mind, especially on Acolyte. The best thing about this game is that you don’t have to play the super-meta build in order to prosper against almost any mode or boss. I took down Empowered Heroet with almost none of the nice items I got from Empowered Timelines because I did him first. My only real complaint in this department is that the loot tables are heavily skewed against it, there having being way more uniques and set items for Primalist and Mage in my loot than anything else I’ve seen drop. (And it’s not even close.)

Might just want to look around and try more builds people have posted here. I’ll try to make a few fun suggestions and post them in the near future myself.
