All the D2 players that left D3 to never return would disagree with you. D3 was a good game, if you were a casual player. If you liked a challenge, it wasn’t. Just like PoE is a good game if you’re a hardcore player and like a challenge and if you’re a causal player, it isn’t.
Explain to me how swapping your builds to fit your situation is “softcore”.
You need to be at a high enough corruption that this is necessary
You need to have done the research to know what is a better ST and AOE build
ANYTHING ABOVE THIS LINE IS ALREADY A VERY INVESTED GAMER
You need to actually be using the system that is made for build diversity to be min maxing
You need to farm multiple gearsets that are in equal power to what we have already established as late game
It is a complete fallacy to call this casual
Only GR100+ players used that functionality? That’s a rather elitist strawman to use.
A post gets more discussion than a comment <3
Because build swapping lets you have a specialized build for any content. However, if you don’t have build swapping, you have to balance your build to do all content. It’s a challenge. You have to make a build that can clear echoes fast and can still tackle bosses.
If you can swap builds with a button, then you simply make one build that is all out single target, one that is all out speed farming, etc. It’s not challenging.
It’s ok if that’s your playstyle, but it’s not for everyone. Many players find that boring. That’s why there is D3 and also PoE. Two complete opposite games that aim for different playerbase.
Please explain some design choices that would be made in relation to implementing these changes and if you have any examples of where they were made in games prior who specifically called this as the reason for these changes.
Don’t make blanket statements without facts.
You mean, like set dungeons, where you need to have a build tailored to the dungeon using a specific set to complete them?
THEN. DONT. DO. IT Like why isn’t this sinking in?
Don’t engage with it
Don’t use it
You’re making the assumption I wish to engage in a discussion, and not simply ridicule your ridiculous assertions. <3
Again, that’s dishonest. Why didn’t you reply to my comment about an option to make you immortal? You wouldn’t have to use it. How is this any different?
I’m also curious if you also go to FromSoftware forums and demand build swap for dark souls games and “who would it hurt?”.
You completely side stepped the question to just say the same thing you did as before. This type of activity is NOT casual. It takes an invested gamer to be at the difficultly level that this is necessary AND they have to care enough to even make both builds. Oh and did I mention that this is an ARPG? Reset my corruption when I do it. IDK
Stop making this dishonest argument. At this rate, we could remove Hardcore “just delete your character yourself”, Solo Account Found and Solo Character Found "just only use the items you found with your own account/character and ignore other items.
There is value to the system enforcing stuff on us, even if you yourself do not understand that value.
It’s existence would affect the game in ways the developers don’t want. Firstly, we need to respect that EHG is making their video game, not your video game. Secondly, there are adverse effects on the game if this were to be introduced and not everyone wants to use it, namely the market for MG and it’s economy get changed drastically if some people make use of this tool to speed farm maps and bosses more efficiently and some don’t. If you were an MG player that didn’t wanna use this, you’d be at a big disadvantage.
Simply “not using” it isn’t good enough
Yeah, your just here to troll gg
You cannot compare opt in systems to opt out systems. They are fundamentally different.
Also dishonest doesn’t equal “I don’t agree”
It actually looks like that’s what you’re doing.
A game’s restrictions are a part of the game’s identity.
If the game had an option to “Instantly drop all BiS gear”, you wouldn’t have to use it. And yet, most players would leave.
If the game had an option to “Add a trillion damage to my attacks”, you wouldn’t have to use it. And yet, most players would leave.
It in fact would create another meta which has been pointed out many times in this thread.
In turn it would also change the Build meta fro. What it currently is now
So if I spend 6 hours and make a speed farming Necro that is diffrenet than my other Necro would you say the same thing??
None of these “it enables degenerate gameplay” arguments hold up because this is ALREADY POSSIBLE. It is just slightly tedious.
I wouldn’t say this. Because that one character needs to do both monos and bosses by itself. If you can make a super awesome, speed farms all content build with 1 character, good on you
Yes, the fact that it’s tedious is what makes players not bother with those tactics. It lets people experiment while being annoying enough that people don’t constantly swap builds to tackle different content.
So I’d say it’s fulfilling its objective.
