I am really struggling with Abberoth… I have 2 Melee Chars, one void knight (Echo Warpath) And a Frostquake Shaman.
With the VK I casually run 500 Corruption. 800 is doable. I can do all Bosses including Dungeons easily without any issues.
The Frostquake Schaman is specifically build as a Boss Killer, because I wanted to finally get Aberroth done. I kill Reign of Dreagons boss before the first AoE Damage at several hundred Corruption, I kill Lagon before Phase 2 of the fight (Phase 2 still takes place tho…). I oneshot Mages and Nemesis at 500 Corruption.
Still: I struggle hard vs. Aberroth. I read guides, watched Videos, even changed Builds. But it is such a pain as melee. Uncleansable ailments, countless DoT Puddles and no-go zones. I simply have no chance to get close enough to do significant damage. Even with the Frostquake I get him down to half health, maybe even last phase, but it becomes just so difficult to approach him. And without getting close there is no health leech and ofc no damage …
Do you have any suggestions?
I feel that Aberroth is WAY easier for ranged, because you can simply do damage from basically anywhere and have much more space to dodge…
Help would be apreciated. And yes, it also might be a skill gap.
There is a thread where players chimed in for this issue:
Take a look at it and all the suggestions and see if they help as a starting point. If you’re still struggling, I’m sure we can try to help you further.
As a starting point, you should link your builds, so people can examine them and maybe give you tips for improvement. By this point, many melee builds have killed Aby. So, while it can be certainly harder than ranged, it’s definitely doable.
While ranged is always easier to keep up damage uptime, I personally don’t think that Aberroth is particularly hard for melee.
He has a very good learning curve and at the start you will have very little damage uptime.
But once you saw and understood all the different mechanics you should get much better.
The uncleansable ailment comes from a ability with a clear audio cue and wind up animation. This ability also is only active during one of the phases (Imperial Era)
The DoT Puddles (from the Void Orbs) only spawn if you touch them.
The DoT Puddle from the Flail Smash can be controled where it goes.
The no-go zones are also only during specific attacks. And the Lasers that are coming from the middle are also controllable, where they end up.
With all that being said and while disagreeing with most of your points, there is unfortunantely very little help we can offer without any more informations.
You claim to have watched a lot of video and guides and yet you struggle. I don’t know the quality of these videos and guides and if they truely explained the abilities or just showcased an ideal run.
The thread that @DJSamhein posted has a few suggestions in it, some of mine as well.
What would help most would be to see an attempt of you trying the boss and seeing what mistakes you make or with what abilities you struggle.
Can you capture a video of you doing the boss fight?
Other than that the only help I could offer would be a more detailed descritpion of how to deal with each individual ability. But since the boss fight is very dynamic it is often not as clear cut and there are multipel approaches to some abilities.
I can also try to make a video. But this will take some time.
Oh, and I watched vids witch really well explained content. Still, the gap between Aberroth and everything else is huge. 800 Corr Shade of Orobyss, 500 Corr on all Bosses, all T4 Bosses easy as Cake. But Aberroth… Just feels like from a completely different game…
Well, it’s supposed to be the pinnacle boss. The hardest content in the game. So yeah, it’s expected that the difficulty is higher from the fight itself.
800c Shade is just ramping numbers, the fight itself doesn’t change.
Aby is static difficulty, so the fight itself is more challenging.
Yes, exactly how its should be.
Depending on your skill, build and understanding/practice of the boss fight I don’t think he is more difficult than 800 corruption, but at first that probably is correct until you have enough practice and routine.
What Aberroth is currently, is exactly what LE needed and still needs. We need more static challenging fights like that.
Its weird… In earlier runs I tried to burst him down as quickly as possible. With my VK I always had the issue that the longer the fight goes the higher the chance that I just die to something. Thats why I started the FrostBoink Shaman. In my earlier runs I tried to burst him down and focussed on getting off as much Earthquakes as possible in a short time. But this time, I actually played slowly. And that worked just like a hot knife through butter.
I bursted Earthquakes with Warcry Totem when it was safe due to an animation windup, otherwise I moved in and out…
I have no idea what took me so long… it feels so easy now
Now I am left with the frustration, that the loot basically sells for a penny. Apart from a Nihilis maybe. But hey! I have beaten the game!
