PROPOSAL: All paradox classes are free to play upto level 80 (or 70, your choice EHG), if players like it and want to push further, they can pay for them.
The core thing is to make sure everyone can enjoy the game and the classes (up to an experimental level) without the need to buy them upfront. Think like PoE monetization philosophy: if you like it (and you want to push on), you buy it.
If people BUY the classes – you know you’ve done a great job at game design. If they don’t, you know you need to do better. People are uncomfortable with the idea of paying upfront and then regret.
That’s my opinion. Please be gentle and reasonable in discussion.
This idea or the one in the other thread where they become free after the season (or a few seasons). Otherwise you are gonna end up like Stellaris where to buy the full experience you have to pay 250 euros on top of the game.
You can play the campaign with them but not monolith or other endgame activities. If you have fun and you want to buy them do so. If not move on.
heck even hero Siege announced future classes will be for free and if a 5 ( afaik) person stuido can do this that did almost everything wrong besides making a rather fun game EHG should be able to do so as well.
It’s a question of pricing. If they want 5 quid most people will be fine with it. If they want 10 and offer some neat MTX most people will be fine with it. If they want 12.99 with the useual fugly mtx ppl will be unhappy.
As for Stellaris… pay 13€ for a month sub to get the whole game experience for a host and all clients is a rather good deal for someone like me who isn’t playing stellaris 24/7 but once in a while. Far better then paying for every Xpac like in the past.
No only for the sub time. I play with some friends every now and then so I pay 13 quid a year or whatever ammount it is. So with enough ppl who play in bursts like vacation time it’s affordable without much problems. If I want to buy all DLC I’m broke .
