A take on a way to buff sets ***SUGGESTION***

TLDR: let sets merge together

So a previous post someone made about essentially sets sucking made me come up with this set rework idea.

What if in season 5/6/7… (ideally 5) they introduced a new forge that merged sets together. Where you could combine two similar base set items into a new “dual set” item.

The way I see it working is to incorporate it into lore is when they expand the campaign they can introduce a new npc that gives you a quest to complete a dungeon. This will open up a special dungeon location in the new area added to the campaign, thus giving a reason for why we couldn’t do it before as the area was in accessible. And just like temporal sanctum after you reach the end and kill the boss you get a one time use forge. (I’m trying my best to weave existing stuff in le to make the idea fit “better”)

So how I envision this forge working is you take two same base item types for example two set gloves and consume them to make a new dual set item. For example the bear helm and doppel helm and consume those two items to make a new dual set time that has both set completion bonuses. As for the stats on the sets at least one stat from each consumed item transfers to the new dual set (chosen at random). Up to a “perfect merge” where all stats or whatever is decided to be max stats on an item can be.

As an additional bonus idea, how about the concept building off of temp sanctum crit craft chance when slamming. And add a merge crit chance to make either one set become an empowered set piece. Using the logic of the empowered set item overpowered the other set and absorbed its essence to gain increased value to it’s current stats or add completely new but more powerful related to set items them stats. This way sets can get a two fold power increase. One from possibility of further enhancing desired stat. Another from the build possibility of having 2x the amount of set bonuses. And partial balance comes from the rng of you have no idea what the outcome will be and the amount of variables.

I believe this idea is an overall good idea as it creates chase items that add value but ideally do not create must have this item to play my build situations. As well as creates more player build possibilities of which I always think is a good thing. Btw before it’s said with any idea anything can become broken and OP if the right min maxer gets a hold of it. Try to look past balance and think of core idea and then say it’s broken plz if u can.
