A review after a year from my previous review

I already did a review on Steam a year ago and sadly it seems as if time has stopped.
The same problems from a year ago are still here.

  1. Graphics engine optimization

After a year there are still random drop frames, sudden peaks above 85° for CPU/GPU and stuttering.
These problems happen in specific maps or with specific mobs.
I read that other people, with hardware more better than mine, have same issues.
For some of them Last Epoch is unplayable.
It was very funny few days ago to see a live stream of Ghazzy on Twitch using high end hardware and having a small frame drop during a boss fight.

I play on High settings but I also have these problems.
On some maps I had to set everything to Very Low and by changing zones I was able to reset everything back to High. In the few (terrible) cutscenes these problems can happen.
If you want confirmation of these problems that other people also have, look for posts on this forum or on Steam.

This is my hardware (before anyone says “it’s old or sucks” I’ll tell you that I played Elden Ring at high settings without any issues. Same for Diablo 4 and Path of Exile.):

i5-10600KF CPU @ 4.10GHz
16 GB RAM
NVidia RTX 2060 12 GB

  1. Animations, cutscenes, dubbing

After a year it feels like we’re still seeing a game from 10 years ago.
I will continue to say it: we are in 2024 and any games in addition to good gameplay should have also be “good” (or “beautiful” if you have time or money) to look at.

We’re not talking about a single dev with his pixel art indie game, ok?

Last Epoch also has to compete with Diablo IV (unfortunally) and with Path of Exile…and in the future with Path of Exile 2.
The cutscenes? Remove them, please.
They’re embarrassing.
The lore is NONEXISTENT anyway so remove it.
Or redo them the way they should be done: GOOD.
Talking about all the animations of any character we would have to talk for hours and hours.
Everything is “a dummy that moves, fights or walks like wood”.

  1. Lore

Well… I suggest you put a nice feature in the log in: “Skip Campaign” and let people play directly from level 58.
This is the only thing I can suggest because make A REAL lore doesn’t care you and never has.

  1. New features added after several months

Really? A faction, a horrible roll that bugs and glitches, a shield for bosses so we can oneshot them in 10 seconds instead of 2 seconds? Pinnacle bosses, which have been around in games like this for years?
All these are not “New Features”, they are basic elements of a game like this.

So…seems that Last Epoch is still in Beta.
A good one but still Beta.
And if it continues to be like this it will end up like Wolcen, with the only difference being that at least Wolcen was nice to look at.
