Sounds like Krafton guys should help with console gaming future for LE

Guess you guys didn’t do much actual “vetting” outside of “who has the biggest wallet”. I’m sorry but this was a stupid decision. Who wants to bet how long it takes for Judd and Mike to be fired and replaced by some random guy who only has failed projects to their name?

Edit:

You mean like how they didn’t look to come in and throw a wrench into what was working for Subnautica 2, or how they didn’t look to come in and throw a wrench into what was working for PUBG?

That’s cool. Having a publisher is always nice. PUBG seems to be doing well :stuck_out_tongue:

As someone said above, probably the check was probably just too good to pass on. Else, why would you let a publisher who ruined multiple games already acquire you ? Only money would motivate such a sword of Damocles.

Wishing you the best tho;

Oof. I don’t think this is good. Look how Blizzard was strangled by Activision for years and years…

Wow did these guys manage to wine and dine you into signing your game away just like that? So much work against the odds to make what you have and you’re just done with it? I hope you had an independent lawyer look over the agreement but still I think in about a year or two you will look back today and think what a mistake you have made. Look at the track record of the company before you get wined and dined and ‘ooh ho you see how we have a real reason for this lawsuit…’.

Anyway I hope I’m wrong, I was lookokg forward to last epoch growing under your guy’s direction but nkw that you aren’t in charge anymore I have low confidence for last epoch’s future.

Do you know the biggest lie people tell themselves before doing something stupid and dangerous that many people before them have suffered from? “Don’t worry, that won’t happen to me!”

Drunk man getting behind the wheel of a vehicle: “I’m aware of the situation with drunk drivers, but it isn’t something that concerns me.”

Young woman walking alone down a dark alley in a notoriously dangerous part of the city: “I’m aware of the situation with young women walking alone down dark alleys in this part of town, but it’s not a situation that concerns me.”

Game developer being acquired by a company that has ruined three different games (TERA, PUBG, Subnautica 2) with their “money > players” mindset: “We’re aware of the situation with those other developers being acquired by this publisher, but it’s not a situation that concerns us.”

Well, it should. The response in this thread alone should be enough to show you how much goodwill you’ve lost with this decision. I hope the paycheck was worth it when LE inevitably becomes a P2W FOMO slop like their previous aquisitions.

I really hope you had good lawyers checking the contract. I’m glad you have found additional funding and expertise for the console ports, but I have heard nothing good about Krafton.

I wish you the best of luck a few years down the line. I hope you somehow retained enough control to fight back against potential changes to the monetization strategy that will inevitably come when Krafton won’t be satisfied anymore. Instead of making the game better to achieve more revenue they will try to maximise value with the least amount of work required all while trying to reduce cost in other areas of the game.

As long as the game is good and fun I’ll stick around. At the first sign of monetization bullshittery I’m out. There is too much of it out there. I’m sick of it.

You almost made it, to bad to see you sellout. You had a good ride, farewell, it was to good to be true having a real alternative to PoE. GL tho, I hope you enjoy your paycheck.

I’m pretty sure Activision said the same thing about Blizzard in the beginning…
Oh well…

Edit: Same thing for Sony/Bungie.

I mean, ~$96 million is an early retirement.

As much as I hate to see this happen after hyping ~20 of my friends into buying the game partially because of it’s monetization structure, I will admit I understand the appeal of just selling and checking out asap. Money > Passion.

Andrew grower thought they werent gonna change is product either. But at the first meeting after he sold he learned no one cared what his vision was and he ledt the company. Go watch the 25 year anniversary for jagex video very sad. Rip EHG

Oh, I absolutely understand it from an individuals POV, but why lie about it and try to spin it positively? Just be upfront with us: “We got tired of working on the game and wanted a quick paycheck so we sold the company for ~$96M and are going to retire.” Instead of “They’re going to let us do our own thing despite having full and ultimate authority over the company. It’ll be great! Trust us instead of the pattern set by their track record! Remember the saying? ‘Once is a chance, twice is a coincidence, and three times was a once in a lifetime event.’ We won’t be a 4th game ruined by this specific publisher”
