Ah… no thanks. Krafton shutdown one game I enjoyed which was Tera. Not doing this again. Good luck you guys, it was fun.
At least it won’t have an effect on S3. On S4 maybe. But a Battle Pass is now very very likely.
I will play as long as it’s fun. If it will turn into a soulless money crab that will impact the gameplay, then I can simple stop.
Sad to see this “new chapter”. When indie devs are getting more exposure and appreciation, it seems some still want to cash out. Shades of Tencent afflicting PoE’s future is coming very soon to LE.
Hope it works out for those still playing & for the devs
I’d be fine with them cashing out if it was to companies that were above board and wanted to create more complete-on-launch full price games that aren’t full of loot boxes and thin seasonal gimmick content. Cash out all you want, as long as it’s not to weird soulless companies making mobile game level applications that exist by testing people’s financial impulse control.
People will always make judgements on things they dont know or understand, time will tell travelers.
I’m happy for you guys, this is a HUGE accomplishment given where you started. As a sidenote, it’s kind of alarming how many people saw the statement from Unknown Worlds, and just immediately believed all of it. I’m personally waiting for actual facts to come out before I believe what either side said, wish others would do the same thing.
it would be more unfortunate if people who saw ONE post from a developer and fully believed everything they said, started treating that post as fact and went and review bombed a game, before even knowing how this affects that game, OR knowing the truth about the developer vs publisher drama. THAT would be really unfortunate
I hear you. Unfortunately, i’ve had poor experiences with prior games cashing out. Krafton will want their ROI. Prices will have to go up.
Didn’t like the direction they took PUBG. Didn’t like the direction Tencent took PoE1/2. I certainly have little faith or reason to believe Krafton will improve LE in the ways it will need in the future.
Indie devs deserve support from gamers. However, it seems some indie devs will use a successful Kickstarter campaign and launch to cash out. History may repeat itself. Hoping it doesn’t
It’s okay to be a fanboy, but please do some research before talking nonsense. Krafton is well known for closing down big games, for extreme p2w, and predatory micro transactions. Is not about subnautica, yes that adds up. But it’s because Krafton is the absolute worst. That’s why people don’t trust in the game longevity anymore, not cuz of a post.
People also make judgements based on past performance and pattern recognition. If we waited until after the fact to judge if things were a bad idea there’d be a lot more bad outcomes out there in the world. That’s kind of what we’re wired to do, is avoid pitfalls. That’s the whole nervous system. It evolved specifically for that. So, y’know. They might. They might know or understand something, It’s a real possibility. Worth considering.
And it would even be more unfortunate for people who have seemingly no clue about the repeated and overarching patterns which stand in relation to that singular post.
A post which by the way missed initially to state ‘Yeah, we sold out 100%, we’re no longer in charge’.
Also given the record it would be insanity to think it wouldn’t follow the exact same pattern as several games before.
The question is rather: What makes you think it would be different here? Why now? Why this product compared to the others?
That’s the baffling part.
With the last 10 to 20 years of fanboy performance, I’m starting to have my doubts. Maybe we shouldn’t really be fans. Brands and products don’t require loyalty to be enjoyed. And they don’t deserve it, clearly.
Welp, I’mma head out. Good luck lads. Clock struck midnight.
Congratulations! I look forward to the future. Good luck with everything you and the team do!
Love the game, Ignore the immature morons, It’s so sad that people are such sheep now a days and follow Herd like mentality, instead of giving it time to see what happens.
Krafton had PUBG, they ran it into the ground.
Krafton had Tera Online, the ran it into the ground.
Krafton has Subnautica… they’re currently running it into the ground.
Once again ‘why waiting?’, we know the pattern already.
The question still is: Why would it be different from the times before? Krafton has not shown the ability to do different, so why now?
This is a story as old as time. I remember the same exact thing being said when Activision merged with Blizzard and how well that has gone. What you don’t understand is that reputation holds a great deal in this industry, and it doesn’t matter if you feel or don’t feel about a subject regarding Krafton because you have some inside info on it, but here on the outside, Krafton is a scummy publisher. Not only that, the games they have published are trash, like The Calisto Protocol for example.
Well, I hope this paycheck is worth for you, but reading this forum thread, it seems like you’re losing your player base’s thrust, including mine. Many of us are already considering this as the start of the death of Last Epoch. As a player, I feel betrayed. Now I’m uncertain how this game will fare into the near future, but watching the practices of this publisher, I’m nearly certain it won’t bode well in the long run. It’s nice to know you lot care more about money than the game, something you lot kept assuring us it was the opposite.
To the players: This was a good run. Almost too good to be true. RIP EHG, RIP Last Epoch. We thought this game would be different from the corpo slop, but we were so wrong.
I understand being Leary, but people are out right attacking the devs on steam! It’s flipping immature, and disgusting!
My dude, we don’t need time. We’ve had over a decade of examples already, how much more time do you need? Are you delusional? The projection is so high here, perhaps you’re the sheep who is ready to trust corpo slop publishers that have a terrible portfolio. What will time do for you here? Absolutely nothing.
It’s wild that someone named Nightblue is telling me not to be a fanboy, because i refuse to jump to conclusions without conclusive evidence. And I would believe what you were saying, if half the comments here weren’t talking specifically about Unknown Worlds and Subnautica 2. Don’t have to be a fanboy to just not take that jump with no evidence.
