A New Chapter for Eleventh Hour Games

What a disappointment.

I’m not going through repeat what others have already pointed out. Them saying that they will leave you alone to do your thing is a lie unless it’s written somewhere. Really sad day.

How long are you going to perform this charade before monetizing historically un-monetized features of the game (such as stash tabs and character slots) or implementing other egregious microtransactions to appease the shareholders? I do not believe whatsoever that Krafton is doing this out of the goodness of their own hearts.

I give it less than a year before we start seeing dramatic changes to the revenue model. I would love to be proven wrong.

The most important thing is that ye haven complete control, so that no one can replace any of thine employees without thy permission, otherwise it will all end badly. There is a scandal with this company now, and it is unlikely that they are on the right side of justice. I do not know of any decent companies, except perhaps the one that already worketh with ye or POE, who would have money and not destroy everything around them for profit.

I can’t really see this going anywhere positive. It’s been seen over and over again that these type of acquisitions always hurt the consumer in the end especially with a company as notorious as Krafton.

I do really appreciate you telling us long before the season start though as it means I don’t have to think about if I want to play this season.

Ask the Subnautica team about Krafton’s ‘hands off approach’. They also got promised much the same thing.

I worry about you guys. Krafton has proven themselves untrustworthy in the gaming industry. I don’t want my favorite ARPG game to go down the Diablo Immortal route, which seems to be Krafton’s general business model.

Was this really a necessary move? Is there still time to back out before Krafton fires you and replaces you with out of touch Gatcha managers?

You guys brought something to the industry it was sorely lacking. Fun. It didn’t require a PhD like PoE did, it was more fulfilling than the Diablo franchise has become. It hit a marvelous middle ground with nearly limitless possibilities while still being user friendly. It was the first time I had truly enjoyed an ARPG experience since D2 LOD.

I don’t want that taken from me. I don’t want Krafton to fire you guys like they did the Subnautica team, and replace you with what is effectively the Diablo Immortal team. They promised the Subnautica team the same thing. They lied. There’s now a huge lawsuit pending.

Please, please, please reconsider before it is too late.

No.

No no no no no… My heart sunk reading this. They’re going to chew you guys up and spit you out.

Did you not see what they did with Unknown Worlds? These guys are snakes. You’ve made a terrible mistake. Can you walk it back? Is there still time? Get out of there, man.

Capitalism died a long ago. Right now it’s parasitism. People simply do not undestand that.

Is this an out of season April’s fool joke?
Jokes aside, only question: Why?

This was a reddit project from passion APRG gamers to gamers to enjoy. Now what I see is an Activision-Blizzard pumping money downfall.

I bought almost every supported pack so you guys won’t have to do this, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way.
As hard as it sounds, you now have millions in resources from a pirate company that only seeks more money and -WILL DESTROY YOU AND THE GAME- in the process just to archive investor goals. Another company that I love fell in disgrace. Another game that eventually will become a money printer.

This is a sad day for ARPGs. Hope time proves me wrong.

I would strongly recommend that ye still find partners in Russia, and not in South Korea.

Uh oh! Oh no! That does not sound good!

Oh no. Oh fuck. R. I. P. Last Epoch, I guess. Was a good run y’all!

Very huge mistake!

Considering the huge amount of legitimate worries from the community, the lacking and evasive responds by EHG don’t spark hope.

I was proud to be part of EHG and the game as a backer and supporter. Now i am not. Krafton is like most of the asian “publishers” a big pile of cancer for this industry. They are the complete opposit of the spirit and values that EHG was made of.

There are enough companies that have experience in the industry which arent like Krafton, Tencent and all those other asian companies. Hell if you had asked US the community we would have given you guidance on who to ask. So many good indy publishers out there that share YOUR passion and vision for LE and the Genre.

But yet you go to one of the darkest places possible… I honestly wish you EHG the best on this journey. As for me i will not take part in it. Krafton will not get any € or time from me.

a very disappointed player

I don’t think they’re being evasive at all. They have stated that they believe this is a good thing for them and their team and that they are not worried about the situation involving another company and contract.

This was likely in the works long before the Subnautica story dropped and I would be surprised if they hadn’t asked them about that scenario before signing.

As much as people love to fight for the underdog regarding Subnautica’s case, I don’t think we have enough information in that case to reliably side with the developers, especially since one of the founders in question has stated on record that he wanted to move on from Subnautica at one point and has been advertising a Christmas comedy movie that he is attempting to make (which is the one Krafton mentions in their statement regarding alleged dereliction of duty).

Innocent until proven guilty exists as a maxim for a reason and until that case goes through the courts, its not exactly fair to peg it all on Krafton, much as I also want to believe the developers are in the right there.

Happy for the EHG ownership group. Hopefully they can strike a balance between new ownership group expectations and the “player first” approach that that made us all love this game. “AAA” gaming isn’t exactly a bastion of hope for players though these days.

I guess as long as you guys can cash in and get a nice bonus with the devil it needs a marketing spin as “good for our customers”. One day everything will be owned by 1-2 corporations anyway so why fight it. Gaming is going down the toilet.
