Hey @Moxjet200 ,
While I’m also concerned about where this is going to go, due to the whole Subnautica 2 thing, I get what it’s like being a developer (though thankfully not an indie developer in gaming; I’m at least in enterprise and have a stable job, though I’ve been laid off 3 times and am currently between jobs with a verbal offer waiting on the paperwork).
So that being said: Congratulations! I hope you and the other founders made bank on this (probably not going to be a popular opinion sadly).
If things go great, then you can both earn a bunch of money and also keep working on your passion project.
If things go badly, then at least you made a bunch of money and if you end up parting ways with Krafton (or they decide to part ways with you, ugh), you’ll have a nice nest egg to work on your next project!
I’m looking forward to both the future of Last Epoch and Eleventh Hour Games, and whatever you end up working on next if it doesn’t work out.
Thanks for everything you’ve done. I’m wishing you all the best and I hope you and the team get to do everything you want to do with the game. Even if this goes terribly wrong I still have over 500 hours in this game which is the 4th highest game in my entire library (PoE, Black Desert, and Rimworld are the top 3).
You might think that’s not really that important but I have a problem. I have 1754 games. Last Epoch is #4 in my top played. That is significant.
I hope to play another 500 hours! Honestly I hope that Last Epoch becomes my #1 game because PoE is great, but there are things about it where I feel it just doesn’t respect me and my time, while Last Epoch does. I hope that continues.
Thanks for all the great memories so far and good luck and I hope to keep playing in the future!
Edit: After re-reading after posting, this reads like I’m giving up, but that’s not the case. I actually genuinely am looking forward to what you can accomplish with more resources, and hopefully more guidance from a larger publisher/developer. There are obviously a lot of optimizations you just haven’t been able to focus on, and having both a larger team and specifically a team you can work with who has worked on large scale multiplayer games, should really help improve Last Epoch for the better.
