Item pool needs indeed more interesting uniques, and the items itself more interesting affixes.
And i agree that the upgrade curve currently is a bit off. Getting relatively easy and strong T4-5 mods (with LEs item editor) then there is a giant chasm of nothingness till you maybe reach the juicy T6+ affixes on the right item bases.
Maybe have another tier of items over exalted, let’s call them “golden”,that can have 3 pref 3 suff but can’t go over tier 5 values. This would give more options?
It would be really nice if they add a new item rarity to chase wich can have up to 6 affixe
LE is LE, not POE I know they are not the same,
but so what, I agree with most of your opinions.
Right now, I make a new bd with gambled most of the t4t5 items I need, even it cost lots of gold. Then I will go farm those similar items I had but with t6t7 upgrade. I cant just say it is boring, but still there is no much of fun(the fun to roll with something out of my mind but useful to my currently bding, and may change the other mods I need), because I totally have what I want in mind, like nothing stopping me from getting them each of parts with specific mods I need is already on the paper, I just need these and dump the others.
The game has boring weak mods and infinite scaling. infact apart from your weapon 80% of your affixes are defensive, development of this game has shoehorned itself into you having almost zero options on gear affix choices because of the 4 affix rule
ive said it before and again, Chest/Helmet need a seperate slot for class affix gear but having said that Chest armor is in an especially bad place because apart from class affix prefix you have almost nothing but Intelligence/Vitality and then its just boring old Health/Health%.
Go look at your gear. remove every Health/Resistance mod and see what you have left
If a game cannot allow you to infinitely scale then the game cannot have infinite scaling.

Your argument is predicated on less RNG feeling less interesting - the mods themselves aren’t drastically different than in any ARPG. In fact, more mods are “interesting” on average for all builds, compared to PoE, because PoE for example throws in a whole bunch of utterly useless and niche mods.
Remove defensive mods that are actually desirable (life/es, res) on items there, and you will similarly be left with very little (crit multi, flat damage, % damage).
The difference is PoE has more variability and potential for crap, along with a trade system which compensates for that and gives loot a sense of value despite the higher chance for “failure”. It’s not the mods themselves, it’s a different system. Perfectly valid to prefer one or the other, but it’s important to nail down what we’re talking about here.
Monolith & Arena. While “infinite” might be a bit hyperbolic, it’s close enough.
If a game cannot allow you to infinitely scale then the game cannot have infinite scaling.
Why? If the player scales “infinitely” and the mobs scale “infinitely” then neither do. The only way to provide challenge (short of good AI) is to have the mobs scale faster than the player.
I am okay with 4 mods as long as the affix can be interesting but I think an unfortunate side effect of only having 4 mods only is that set items are harder to build around since set item’s affixes tend towards offensive.
I know LE is LE right ? But you know all game need a model…even the Dev
We are just trying to make game more enjoyable
If a game cannot allow you to infinitely scale then the game cannot have infinite scaling.
Not everyone wants ‘infinite scale’. There’s a paragon infinite system in D3 and thanks I don’t like it. It is not virtually possible to have 100% perfect rolls on all of your gear pieces. So if I have just proper affixes with ~80% perfection I 'd say my build is complete. And even that would take an enormous playing time for a player who can spend only 2-3 hours a day. I love to change builds and try different things instead of sitting on one build forever.
Maybe in theory having 6 affixes on gear is more fun than 4 but then reaching that 80% perfection would take so much time that I 'd rather give up on that character and start a new one. I will end up with lots of characters that are at 50% of completeness at best.
Another reason is that LE is balanced around items with 4 affixes. Changing that to 6 affixes system would require lots of hard work and time. I’d rather prefer the devs invest their time into new classes, items, areas…
I think itemization in this game has so much potential
Current implementation is very boring and dull
100% agree, but the BASE of what this game is doing is SOLID, far better than ‘others’ lol
Good to know I’m not alone in this…I think PoE players should play PoE and not want LE to become PoE…We don’t need those toxic people here =)
Stereotyping PoE players as toxic is pretty toxic.
Regarding the actual topic, I think affixes on rare equipment are solid, we just need more interesting uniques that enable/empower builds (and buffs to uniques that are build enabling but are too weak to use). Maybe Legendaries will fill that niche
LOL, sorry bud. No. Poe is a more popular game, and by nature of its having been out for several years it has years of content. But poe is actually a VERY shit game. It’s being actively developed at a ludicrous speed because all they can do is wave shiny things in their playerbases face, but their technical debt and shit development direction are now catching up with the. You have in fact listed several games which are far superior to PoE. However I gotta say, this game should not be POE, Poe is shit, if you want to play poe, scourge is in about 2 weeks, Enjoy.
That’s your oppinion and it’s okay but playernumbers speak another language. I don’t like WoW for example and still it’s one of the best mmos out there because it understands the target audience it caters to: People who like to have an easy time playing for some hours every now and then.
LE and PoE are games that can exist without any problems but feedback is feedback and most people played PoE if the liked it in the end or not. Only disliking feedback because “PoE sHitZ!” isn’t that greate from my point of view.
I’m okay with 4 slots on each item but as I said above it would be fun to not only have 2/2 slots but a bit of different options there. On top of that legendaries are coming and only after these are implemented and running I can fire this whole conversation up again because right now a lot of stuff ingame is still missing.
Popular does not equal “good” (which is also a subjective term).
Again, popularity does not mean quality. Never has never will. Wow was an awful mmo and is pretty directly responsible for the overall crap nature of that venre at this time. Now you could perhaps call ot successful, but not good. Poe is in the dame boat. Poe is a pretty decent theorycrafting environment, but it’s a truly awful game with some of the worst momemt to moment gameplay in gaming, certainly in this genre. This is different from whether or not you like something.
Theory crafting is the worst aspect of PoE because its artificaly bloated.
If millions of people like a game it offers quality and greatness for said people. Said people are a lot and so reviews and offer a kind of metric. On top of it there are many different journalists and magazins that rate games. I don’t care if you personaly think game X is bad like noone will care if I say the remake of D2 is terrible and the game as a whole.
Long time popularity don’t always makes something automaticly good as pop music for example showes… from my point of view. The charts may speak a different language but yeah that’s only the charts.
Just stay constuructive. PoE is a totaly different game it’s just a speedclearmeta like D3 is a different game that targets another audience. Still both games are, and it hurts me to say so :D, good in their own regards. If you say something else there is no need to discuss further and i simply agree to disagree.
Late response but i fully agree with you. I am myself a poe player but i like LE for what it is. But i am confident the devs will not be swayed by disapointed poe players who try to make LE their new PoE ^^
POe’s devs seem to love A LOT Last Epoch too, imo there are an important of recent and upcoming changes inspired by LE.
Problem is if doesn’t always fit to POE’s gameplay and core mechanics, but… :’)
