1 Shotted at start of the game

Hello, just like many of you i started season 3 with a brand new character. But in the first 10 minutes i encoutered 2 minibosses that are imo too powrfull for a starting character with only some blue and white gear.

The first one is te one that drops meteorites ans summons a fire breathing bird. Those meteorites are impossible to dodge unless you run around all the time. If 3 of them hit you you’re dead.

The second is when you meet that old man Bathas i gues is his name and there you have to fight a large bird that has an attack that kills you with 1 hit and you can’t see it comming.

I defeated them both, the first by running around summoning thorn totems and the other i had to hit only 1 more time before he oneshotted me, so i walked on to him and killed him.

So yes they are defeatabble but 1 shot kills that you don’t see comming so early in the game where you didn,'t even had the chance to get some gear or spec you character feels a little unfair to me.

Champions, yes, they’ve been quite challenging in the first few zones since they were added in 1.2(?), I think the first few could probably be toned down a bit or you can just run past them.

There is a large circle for 2 or 3 seconds on the floor for the attack in the Balthas-room.

I’d say they toyed arround with the difficulty a bit but right now I try awefull stuff with a class I haven’t played in a long while and maybe that’s the root of the issue. The game already threw all leveling items for an ignite pala at me like it’s a sign and then I’ll doubble check.

If you have a decently planned out build and you use a meta approach the game and everything it throws at you is still easy.

He’s not talking about champions. He’s talking about the mini-boss in act 1 and the act 1 boss, respectively.

Oh. The only time I got one shot was facetanking the initial bukake from the students in masochist mode.

I think the first mini boss if you’d even call it that is kind of fair criticism. One of the issues I have with meteors is I tend to have a principle in fight designs where hard hitting attacks need to have very visible telegraphs (well, depending on the game goals I suppose). Meteor circles are far from that and are faded lines with no fill color inside. I also think given the high damage a few more seconds delay to resolution wouldn’t hurt. Even evade can only do so much and has a slight pause between uses that could mean eating a meteor. This issue only gets worse later on in endgame when you get a pack of meteor birds.

Yeah, meteor birds are way more annoying. And they mostly never stop being annoying. Same as the mechanical constructs that shoot a lightning attack at your feet from 2 screens away.

The first mini boss of act 1 got me suspicious about its shenanigans cause I dodged his fireballs I was away from the phoenixes he summons and then while I was full HP he sliced me one time and I died. The weird thing was that the death recap said I got hit for 40 dmg 10 being the extra that killed. :person_shrugging: but that was about it for me. Still yeah seems like a slug to fight through some champion enemies for me if I do not wanna avoid them.

Perhaps the ground effect could fill up as a countdown to impact, then you’d know how long you have to move.

This is a pretty good idea. And on theme too. You can make it as a shadow that gets bigger as the meteors get closer.

This is the single most annoying enemy in the game for me. Cannot stand those things.

As to the main topic at hand, I always get confused when people say things like mini-boss and chapter boss but if he’s talking about who I think he’s talking about, I have adamantly believed he got overtuned in 1.2 (either by accident or ninja’ed.)

It’s the Osprix that you meet in the very first quest you get (to check on Balthar-sp?). You run into him right before you get to waypoint and the guy who then gives you a side-quest to go check in the storage area.

Yeah, that’s the one.
