1.2 Impression and Sentinel

If anything, I’m not bragging about my achievements in the game. I rely on them. Because it’s obvious that we play in different ways. And we have different gaming experiences. While you’re watching a video of a dude playing Sentinel on a 1000 corr, and you’re thinking, “wOw, WhAt A sTrOnG bUiLd, ThAt DuDe FrOm ThE fOrUm Is WrOnG, hErE’s ThE vIdEo PrOoF!!!” I play on these builds. I’m doing min max on these characters. And I also don’t at trade guild (cheating for dumbass), only CoF. I’ve experienced, felt, discovered each of these builds from scratch to hero. I spent a lot of time farming perfect items, thousands runs to Julra, and a huge amount of time and effort invested in pushing these characters higher and higher. So while you’re playing as altoholic, and jumping from one character to another, watching videos on YouTube and looking ladder on HC, I’m playing the game for real. This is when you play at a level of difficulty where the character is fully revealed, and you compare the COMFORT of playing on these characters with others. When you play as altoholic, you rarely cross the line where build strength, comfort, and the required investment begin to be felt. And yes, I know what I’m talking about, trust me.

The first videos that caught my eye. People who know the game have been talking about the weakness of Sentinel and melee class for years. When you were forced to play IN EVERY build with Volatile Reversal for damage, when you have terrible scaling damage, poorly working skills, and so on.

yes

See, that’s another misconception you have. You were not forced to play VR in every build.

Between the choice of % increased damage and a % more damage, most people obviously chose the % more multiplier. But this wasn’t a situation where with VR = you clear, and no VR = you can’t clear.

Indeed we do.

Unlike you, we actually have seasonal characters. Whereas it seems you only play your legacy char you had since before 1.0 release. And it seems you only play very little, that’s why your other Sentinels are missing gear pieces.

In other words, you know jack shit about how Sentinel was in the previous season, and you only keep parroting something you saw in a youtube video.

Fortunately, your gaming experience does not define the class.

Is that why you’re still running 1LP stuff on that Legacy VK? After 2 years of minmaxing? You didn’t do a very good job.

Maybe I’ll make one then. Just so dudes like you have one less silly argument to pull up when they run out of actual arguments

Well, glad you showed us your condescending attitude again.

Too bad your silly excuses have no bearing on the facts. Keep it coming

Wait, what? How does the missing of some items on my chars mean that I play very little?

Have you ever thought that I can just rebuild my chars? Or transfer items from one char to another? Or put them in a stash? I don’t create seasonal characters because I don’t like losing my progress and constantly starting over. But that doesn’t mean I can’t rebuild the characters I created 2 years ago.

Now should I send you some screenshots of my legendaries in the stash or what?

You know, I’ve already realized that while I’m playing this game, you’re playing it on YouTube. Well, and on the forum, of course. But even on YouTube, you can’t find the right videos from smart people about the real facts.

What am I supposed to check? You really suck at this

By the fact that you don’t have the gear and need to transfer it from one to another?

And I don’t create 1000c characters, because I don’t like wasting time by grinding monolith ad-infinitum. But that doesn’t mean I can’t have knowledge about playing Sentinel.

On the contrary.
Unlike you, I don’t blindly regurgitate whatever Perry or Dread says in a video. Being a youtuber and playing for a while doesn’t make you impervious to mistakes.

I am capable of thinking for myself and finding errors in others’ statements. Which is why we are here.

And I actually experience the seasons as any new player would, and I level up the characters up to the point where I can access all content in the game, which gives me a pretty realistic view on what the average player experience is.
Y’know, unlike you, who only logs back to his old character to “rebuild” it if a patch changes something.

You have a single level 100 character since launch and it was a meta warlock build. So no, you’re not really discovering them.

I have farmed 500-700c and killed Aby dozens of times. I could have farmed 2k+, but that is boring as hell.
So tell me how you’re playing the game for real and I’m not. What did you achieve that I didn’t, other than getting a “Number Go Up”?

As an altoholic, I actually get to play all characters. I don’t forget that some masteries exist. And I get a decent feel of how classes are against each other.

Honestly, you sound just like a simple meta player. Ever since the start.

Probably in the same way that having a level 99 means you’re a scrub but getting 1 more xp and getting to 100 means you’re a guru?

“each of these” which i liked. Not the all builds in the patch.

We came to the point where we stupidly compare our characters, although at the beginning of our discussion I wanted to convey that the characters on 300 corr feel the same in strength, and on 1300 corr in different ways. And if you spend most of your time playing seasonal characters that you don’t even maximize, then you’ll have a different experience of the game than I did “when number go up”. And by no means do I call myself a guru, I’ve dropped here the opinions of people who understand the game much better than me and are able to create meta builds themselves, but even that didn’t convince you. :tipping_hand_man:

But your initial premise wasn’t that. It was:

We showed you that there were builds that could do this before Season 2. Like FG shield bash or bleed hammerdin or even forged weapons builds.

You also said:

Which is clearly disproven by the fact that most HC players (you know, the ones that actually care about defenses?) picked Sentinel.

You’ve dropped the opinions of 3 content creators. They’re just as biased and flawed as anyone else. I’ve often disagreed with Dread’s opinions.
Just because he has a youtube channel doesn’t mean he’s always right.

I’d rather take the opinion of a vast number of players that play HC, which are usually also people that understand the game much better than most and that actually care about defenses (glass cannon has no downsides in SC), than a couple of streamers.

If someone says something is bad but I see that a very significant part of the top-competing playerbase does otherwise, I tend to draw my own conclusions instead.

That’s not true, dieing in SC means losing the mono reward.

Sure, but I was referring mostly to the leaderboards. When you’re doing arena in SC, you just push until you die (or get bored to death). In HC, you need your character alive so you can try to push further.
