This was a very nice read for soemone who is actively working in this line of work. Thank you for launching this great game, it has been amazing since launch even with the issues you had to deal with.
For all the players who switched to playing offline during these launch problems (instead of review bombing you on steam or moaning on the forums) - could you now return the ability to have health bars for offline characters, which is bugged since the very first patch and hasn’t returned since. I haven’t played the game in three weeks as a result except to check with each update if it has been fixed. I know there are others in same boat. Just hoping for another chance to try LE again before new PoE season.
Mistakes only mean that you are trying. If you learned from it, then it wasn’t a mistake. It was a lesson.
Great job EHG. Kudos to the team and thanks for this post
You didnt even care to read the post right?
Because if you did you would have known that they did expected many peoples but since a system failed on launch day hoped that it would not be enough players to cause more problems until they managed to fix it.
You either feel like god or the lowest thing ever (at least from my experience)
Thank you, EHG, for your transparency and willingness to share what your experiences were over that first week. I can only imagine the stress that was occurring!
Know that you have earned much respect and admiration from many gamers and I, for one, plan on being a fan for many years to come. Eagerly looking forward to the future!
Other game studios really need to take notice of how you all communicate with your players, It is greatly appreciated. Thank you for a great game and excellent customer service.
Also fixing a mess in 5 days is a bloody great achievement, I know other games that have been out for years and have still not been fixed as well.
Again, Thank you EHG.
Really interesting read, thanks for sharing!
Was it when getting near other players?
other_player.load_all_stash_tabs();
Interesting post but the final section should have included the host service point. Which is “do not do major changes last minute when you could have made them earlier”.
Anyway, good job trying to fix what was possible.
Let’s now hope you will focus on the game itself with big changes that are very much needed for LP and all
interesting read, thanks for the update
At my place of work, we have a evaluations that put us on a scale from 1 to 5. I had a supervisor that would say a 4 is someone that is the best possible fit for their job, and a 5 is someone that makes other 4s.
This report would make EHG a 6. Not only are you enabling your future selves and employees to better respond, but you’re also sharing this information for others in the industry. I applaud you and your efforts. Keep raising the bar, and keep up the great work! You’re already changing the landscape.
The game has only just launched and you’re already wanting content 4 weeks in? Baffles me how greedy players are. Saying you’re “waiting for next content update” makes you sound needy mate. We are at least 2 months away from new content btw.
Thanks for this post-mortem regarding the launch!
Most players don’t imagine how hard it’s to manage all this. Even personally despite i code a bit (mainly web though and with “old” tech), i can hardly imagine how the architecture is to handle so many players. Until you worked in the field professionally, it’s barely imaginable i guess.
At least, i’m not surprised a single line caused some issues, almost a classic ^^.
Congrats on managing to stabilize the game past all the issues you had for this launch, and i wish you all the best for the upcoming months and years of taking care of the game .
Thanks for the update! Take the time to do it right, learn, and gather the community feedback. Hoping to continue the journey here for years to come!
Once again, you did it
Good follow up - Keep up the good work.
Good to see a small insight into it all. Gives general understanding for people who aren’t fully aware of how certain things work.
It’s refreshing to see a game company be open, honest, and transparent about things that have happened, especially in the case where something went wrong. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing what the future holds.
It isn’t about what happens, it’s how you deal with it afterward. You guys were extremely transparent and despite the issues, you resolved everything in a very timely manner. Well done. Love the game!!! Keep up the hard work!
^
While I"m glad you are sticking with the game and seeing a lot of improvements. If you don’t fix this. You’re gonna get fucked every time there is a spike of interest in the game.
