What ya rollin'? (Hardcore / CoF)

They did…called Scarabs and been in the game for years

Also, Devs want you to play their league not standard they give out MTX to entice you play regardless if the league is bad/boring

Playing standard with all my gear on new classes and potential content is gross. I never play standard ever as its completely pointless and removes all reason to play an aRPG

I will go Merchant because I’m interested in checking out trade.

For me it will be standard/legacy and CoF. I am not interested in temporary gimmicks. I want to be able to shelve a character and go back later and tweak or continue, especially if I get a drop that will apply to them or a new build idea. That is how I play ARPGs. I played PoE on-and-off for years but only in Standard.

In other genres, like team shooters such as Overwatch, where you don’t build customized characters over time, temporary gimmicks don’t bother me. But if I am building something up, I don’t want it to last only a few months. I realize cycle characters will move to legacy at cycle’s end, but I don’t like the idea that the build might depend on items/features that will disappear. That’s one thing that turned me off to D4, where they seem to use season buffs to allow characters to feel powerful, but tune them down apart from that, so if you don’t conform to seasons you are only lackluster.

Similarly, I’m not much interested in grouping in ARPGs. I save that for genres like MMOs or team shooters. That is not to say I’d never stray outside those habits. Depending on how LE develops, I might someday try out online and grouping, but I’d not like to see that be the only viable option.

Yeah, that’s true, not sure why I hadn’t thought of that.

In a recent YouTube stream they did say cycles will have maybe a few items that can only drop in that cycle. Seems like you might as well uninstall now? :stuck_out_tongue: If you’re bored of fresh starts for fresh content then maybe ARPG’s aren’t for you long term. If you’re still enjoying the same Solo Legacy I don’t see why you’d uninstall personally, but that’s your choice and I respect it

the only difference is potentially having pinnacle bosses delayed in offline, so people cant edit there way to them and test them instantly. Nothing else has ever been spoken about in regards to differences between the modes of the game. Theres 0 downside to playing standard for people that dont want a reset.

And if you really want a reset, its surprising you’ve only had 3. I’ve simulated about a dozen lmao.

I tend to play just HC already, and am also very excited for CoF. Really it comes down to what Falconer is. I’m hoping it focuses more around throwing since we have a bow rogue and a melee rogue archetypes already (I know both have support for throwing, but it’d be neat to have a dedicated class for it). If not, regardless it’s probably Falconer or Warlock because they will be new and fresh. I know Rogue isn’t a super great class on HC because she’s fairly squish, but that won’t stop me from trying it out anyway.

That totally depends how you build it.

tbf I’m a fairly casual player, I just like HC bc it’s generally mor viable in LE than it is in other aRPGs. Anything can be tanky if you build them a certain way, but it seems to me that Rogue is generally less tanky than say Primalist or Sentinel.

I assume you mean that you feel Primalist/Sentinels are easier to build tanky? Possibly due to their main defences being less RNG based.

I appreciate that you are able to articulate these things better than I am able to. Yes, basically. Also having played most of the classes/masteries, I’ve felt the safest playing Primalist and Sentinel, and felt relatively unsafe playing Rogue and Acolyte.

To continue on this one, I haven’t played many classes past level 65-70, so I’ve never gotten a ton of investment in them. This perspective comes off of mainly trying to get through the campaign on each mastery in HC.

I think I will play solo self found for the first time(and go CoF), just to see what it is like to have to rely on ground pickups for shards and uniques(as my stash is currently full with too many uniques/shards to have to ever worry about that in any capacity).

This is despite the fact that I think that Merchants are way more powerful than CoF(especially with certain bonuses like to idols not being enough and lacking the insane level of unique item target find that trade has).

It’ll be interesting to see whatbyour thoughts are after you’ve given CoF a decent shake. Plus, you don’t need to do SSF, you can ceeate a seasons character which will have a similar effect (if it’s your first one).

SSF SC CoF. I have no clue what mastery though.

I will be playing offline if I am playing CoF, so yes, I have to do SSF to have the same result.

Not if you create a cycle character.

Though tbf, I am assuming that you can create a cycle character offline.

Why would you play offline if you create a CoF character? I get doing it the other way round (if you’re offline going MG only gives you the downside of the lowered drop rates so CoF is the best choice), but the way you said it implies that you think/feel you should be offline if you go CoF?

online lag is why. even if they get the servers down to a mystical 1 MS ping that would still be 1 MS more than offline. If I do not intend to party or to trade, may as well be offline
