While using Stygian coal we used to be able to cast multiple instance of Drain life in previous patch, resulting in very high amount of stygian beam per second. However, I just realise that Drain life does not stack anymore, which is a super hard nerf for the stygian lich, was this explain in the patch note?
Apparently not, thost are all the Drain Life/Stygian Coal references I was able to find (search is a thing) from 1.2.
can we bump this? I cant find any information anywhere pertaining to this. I have not played this build before, but it definitely doesnt feel like successive casts results in more active drain life procs.
any more anecdotal evidence atleast would be appreciated from the community.
They fixed a bug where DL gained an additional charge… maybe that’s why it didn’t work as useual? Outside of this just write a bugreport and see what is happening in the future. A friend tryed the build and was instantly speccing back because it seems like it was a clownfiesta.
First time stygian player here and I noticed this as well. What’s interesting is that if you stand still and cast multiple DL’s you will notice additional spell effects and particles (as opposed to a single cast) but I don’t THINK it’s resulting in any extra damage.
I am also wondering this. I’m only able to cast one instance of drain life at a time and while the beams shoot fast their damage against crowds is pretty pathetic.
yea first time playing too on an alt and I can only cast an instance of dl. The crowd damage seems to be odd in the since where the beam get confused to do single target but doesn’t clear as fast?
+1. It looks like the “stackability” is just a visual bug. The damage indeed increases.
But can we get some developer confirmation if Drain Life (when equipped with Stygian Coal) is intended to now be a point-target ability? It wasn’t in any of the patch notes and now the build plays fundamentally differently…
