Just found the staff so I’m anxious for your testing as well. Good luck!
Test results: AoD is definitely better now, although I would still struggle to call it endgame viable. One of the biggest issues with the build, and one that does not stem from its damage or potential lack there of, is that you need such specific affixes, and sadly the meta does not value those affixes [health regen is far inferior in the current climate to health/prot stacking, for example.]
I will say, if you want to play AoD still, it is certainly playable now, and stronger than before, although it still needs help. I had a bit of fun testing out Drain Life and Spirit Plague with it, and will likely update my guide to include my skill trees for those.
I am trying this as well. Just curious about regen mods. How does flat regen calculate with % inc regen?
The sum of flat regen is multiplied by the sum of % regen.
Awesome. Was afraid % regen only modified the base regen, which would be REAL bad.
Hey, StormQuake. I really would love an update to this build. While it may not be viable super high monolith level, it still is a GREAT clearing/farming build. The damage potential is amazing, but I can’t figure out how to survive very well past lvl 60ish. I have already followed the guide and have Plaguebringer, but I am not sure if I should be stacking dodge as well or not. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
I’m unsure where you would put dodge if you were going for it. It may be better to just go for regen and prots while keeping your raw health pool low. I will try for an update before classes start again, but there’s not much I’ve been doing differently outside of running spirit plague!
Okay, thanks!
Another update. Going to be running some tests with a toggle-version of AoD in reaper form. Could lead to some interesting stuff following some discussions I had with Boardman
Interesting… The poison nova node on activation with a 5 sec cd?
nah, the poison nova isn’t great, mostly experimenting with the missing life gain AoD gives combined with reaper and a lot of healing effectiveness
UPDATE: So… I’m torn on what I want to do. I personally need to put the build on hold again as I require such different gear now, and it’s proving difficult to farm for with my limited schedule and interest in other builds. Despite this, would you guys like me to update the build guide with an experimental section where I list what I planned to do? People who really want to try the build could try that out, although I’m still unsure how viable AoD is in the current game climate for the risk and effort the skill takes to play.
I actually like playing my AoD lich. With Soul Maw and Ageless Ascetic we get lots of DoT leech.
I do, however, play with Reaper transformation and am currently thinking about ditching Mark for Death from the skillbar to play with Reaper, AoD, Wandering Spirits, Hungering Souls and Transplant instead. The five specialized skills would then be AoD, Reaper, Mark for Death (can be easily triggered by AoD and Reaper specialization), Wandering Spirits and Hungering Souls.
I think Transplant specialization isn’t as effective with this char, but I want to keep it as movement spell.
Health regen can then be replaced with Cooldown reduction (helmet), DoT damage (gloves) and dodge rating, protection or increased armor (body armor).
Currently level 60 only, though, don’t know how it will work at level 100.
