What do you expect? Shamans, totems, elementals. Classic. Mage can’t control power of nature. Rogue and others not smart enough. This is logical.
And yet many Mage spells are aspects of nature. Bolts of lightning (Lightning Blast), Glacier, Static Orb, Black Hole, Meteor, Ice Barrage (hail, albeit moving horizontally rather than vertically) & many of the runic invocations.
Personally, I’d like to see the totem mastery (or THE, The, tHe, thE, etc for Heavy) to have more than 2 choices of damaging totems (storm totem & thorn totem). It’d be disappointing if the Mage/Sorc only had a choice of 2 spells wouldn’t it? Or the Necro only having 2 minions (balance notwithstanding)? Even the VK which is the void caster (despite having no void spell buffs in the mastery bonus) has more void spells (Devouring Orb & Abyssal Echoes plus conversions for Smite & now Radiant Lance).
If the “gain damage bonus based on the number of crows” in the skill nodes is changed to “increase the killing by the number of totems”, or if a specialization node is added so that the tidal element can crouch on the shaman’s back, like a guardian spirit, moving and killing enemies along with the shaman, it would be even better.
