There’s no way for EHG to make money from manipulating the RNG like this. Their income comes from cosmetics. The only possible reason to do so would be to slow progression down in some misguided belief that slowing progression will make it more likely for someone to buy cosmetics, which seems like a tenuous connection at best.
The games were you have to worry about this kind of thing are the predatory mobile type games where you can pay to progress/improve itemization, as there’s a direct monetary benefit to do so. EHG stands to gain nothing by doing this in Last Epoch.
Didn’t you know that the moment even a single cent is exchanged between TenCent and any person, they are mind wiped and become permanent slavepuppets of TenCent, and every action they take from that day forward is always and only for the purpose of tricking poor defenseless gamers into voluntarily spending money?
Just to be clear for people who doesn’t want to watch the clickbait conspiracy theorist video, the “research” he’s refering to is an article on reuters (about Netmarble), one on gamedailybiz about Nexon and one on mmorpg.gg about Maplestory. And… that’s it. His journalistic prowess was to link the three together.
The fun part is that he will probably disregard any arguments against his Discovery, claiming we’re just shills or blind to the Truth.
Also, Force argument was that “Because Nexon was found guilty of unfair manipulation for cash shot items in Maplestory” (…) “now we have this seed of doubt, knowing that it’s possible”. Nothing more.
Well, no s*** Sherlock. There are many very greedy companies with unethical practices. That was kinda obvious that Maplestory, and many other mobile (or mobile-adjacent) games with predatory cash shop, were in that category. With hundred of items in the cash shop, pay-to-win elements, daily rewards to reel you in, etc. I mean… come on, you really can’t see the difference ?
Sometimes the best research is the simplicity. I dont see anyone else saying it which means it was not brought to the for-front of people at this moment. It provides value in exposure to the idea which is the point. I am no data scientict, i can only do the best with what i can
The best that you can do is a google research and a thumbnail of three spiders with wordart saying “You WILL GRIND FOREVER AND YOU WILL BE HAPPY!”, “Fraud” and “Hypocracy” (lol) over the logo of Last Epoch ?
You see, if you don’t have the skills to provide actual insight, you should consult an expert before speculating publicly about malicious business practices.
Only if an expert can back up your speculation with data that can be verified by basically everyone with the existing knowledge, you should go public.
This isn’t meant as disrespectful as it might sound, it’s basically a quote from a German comedian that likes some satire: “If one doesn’t have a clue, just stfu.”
Why do I say that? Speculations tend to turn into rumour, and rumour into damaged reputation, and damaged reputation into libel cases if things go south.
IIRC, you were already spreading the false narrative that EHG removed reviews from steam, which they cannot do themselves. But maybe I confuse you with some other user.
In the first 1 min of the video i state explicitly its my speculation, its in the description and in the title, why its a question. Again, people should watch the video before making assumptions
Now on them removing steam reviews, i never said they where being removed, i said i saw a video of someone claiming tencent was removing steam reviews, which lead to a long debate about the legality of removing posts on steam. Cant find the specific video anymore. The discussion was about someone claiming their post / discussion was deleted, not a review.
This was your post. A basic google search, one I did when I read your statement, showed that only Steam themselves can remove reviews.
I won’t watch your video, I will not grant you another click for your content farming.
The title of this thread - reflect on it. What cat is out of the bag when it’s only speculation?
It’s disingenuous clickbait drama farming - and that’s the best-case scenario.
Since I don’t really like the thumbnail of the OP, I decided to create my own; which I think is a positive counterbalance. I don’t like spiders so I put a puppy in it.
That is the exact post yes. It says, as i said right above, i seen videos on youtube of them deleting negative reviews. Where is that different from what i just said. And yes steam discussions are there, as i read them.
Me saying, i watched a video that said X/Y, is NOT the same as me saying it. One is me pointing out what someone ELSE said. Big difference, maybe learn to read.
I’m still curious what the original story is, that there is more to. Was there some prior conspiracy theory about EHG having predatory practices regarding their RNG? Or did the OP just make it up, along with the rest of the (so-called) research this entire pile of horseshit is being based on?
