Hi, I find the Beastmaster playstyle to be a bit lacking with Serpent Strike and the Scorpion pet. I feel this should be a ranged character. I would like my Scorpion to front-line for me while I shoot poison arrows, and the way to do this would be allow Serpent Strike to be either a ranged or melee attack. An alternative option would be to create a Unique Primalist Bow that allows Serpent Strike to be a ranged attack. Thank you.
Just to clarify, I don’t mean that it is weak when I say the play style is lacking. Its just that I don’t think it is nearly as fun as my other character, and I think that what it is missing is the ability to be ranged.
Or maybe Marksman will be able to use ranged poison attacks… and summon some kind of (temporary?) pet, we currently do not know.
Serpent Strike is a really strong skill, it can melt any mob in the game in seconds,
it’s ballanced round the fact that is a (short range) meelee skill and it requires a 2 handed glaive.
I understand you prefer a ranged playstyle, so maybe another class will be more to your liking?
Acolyte for instance can hide behind pets while dealing some ranged damage.
Both Necromancer and Lich have ways of applying a bunch of dots on mobs.
Well, I actually have always preferred melee in arpg’s. My main in this game is Forge Guard.
I understand that Serpent Strike is strong - it is WAY stronger than my 4 wolves build with Swipe that I was running before my respec. I just think that it is kind of boring to play the way that it is. I love the Scorpion, and therefore poison is looking like the way to go for me. I Just wish I could equip a bow for this character!
Once bows are introduced why not just give a brand new skill to the primalist class that is ranged im sure the 2 will go together to allow alot of build diversity. Duel weilding and ranged weapons are going to easily triple the number of current play builds, i do not look forward to the amount of time i will be doing videos when its released haha.
Yeah, you have a point there! I’m sure there will be many different play styles for most of the classes once they introduce bows and duel wielding. For now though, my primalist will sit LOL.
Yeah, I’m going to be very interested to see how they implement bows & ranged attack damage. If bows are a weapon type that has “throwing attack damage” as an implicit, like melee weapons do, and you could craft flat throwing attack damage onto them as melee weapons can any shield/hammer throw builds that want more dps would go bow. Which would be odd. Which comes back to the suggestions I made here.
I’d rather use my bow to “shoot” things. Throwing the bow might not be that effective
Nice idea. I like that “Ranger” style with pet an ranged weapons. A very common archetype in RPGs.
Also possible to add damage conversion nodes that convert some melee skills into ranged skills and with that the damage type they scale of.
