No - no ones mindset is wrong and what you asked / suggested is 100% valid
I have 0 beef with people hitting max with 1 char then skipping others because no one elses game play affects mine in LE as I’m CoF - I guess with MG it could potentially if they suddenly see a bug build that kills uber with 1 shot, they instantly make that char and then farm for items and flood the market - that kinda stuff could off balance MG but otherwise what other people are doing really doesn’t bother me 1 little bitty titty.
I just think because so many want the campaign to remain and see it as, well whatever each individual see’s it as they are likely to keep it at least for now otherwise some people will complain and in MG’s case it would be unfair. In CoF no ones gonna care because we’re much cooler (kidding calm down sheesh). I’ll always play through regardless of options it gives me a feel of the skills/style and if I don’t like it then I’ll say icky like a grown up and dump it
But yeah everyones opinion should count and be heard, yours included obvs x
Yeah, would be fine… never saw the reason for the tab buying anyway.
I don’t even see a reason for it to be tabs rather then a system which doesn’t demand coding positions and ensuring stuff won’t collide space-wise… even if it’s not that much of a difference.
Always thought the aversion to ‘spreadsheet like’ methods went too far and simply removed a lot of good and reasonable options from the surface.
Slot number instead of ‘Tetris’ tabs.
Simply folders.
Custom sorting with a total storage space rather then a ‘per tab’ limited one.
Loads of better options since it poses literally no function in LE.
I get it in GD… where it initially only was a single one but they added more along the way.
I get it in PoE… there it’s moolah reasons.
But in LE? It’s just tedium for the sake of tedium sadly.
It’s only indirect.
It’s a feature for… 5 people basically. When there’s tons of fixes and improvements years overdue which are for 50000 people.
Just a numbers game, nothing to not do in the future… just far off to be a reasonable thing to do.
And if properly implemented (meaning not the first char of a Cycle, meaning not before reaching the unlock condition for it and so on).
I don’t think anyone would be against that. The only issue would be performance issues. We’re currently having issues with stash performance as it is with remove-only tabs (although that is more likely due to a bug, rather than pure performance).
I believe the reluctance to increase it (Mike has been asked about increasing the number of available tabs regularly) has more to do with that than with any other “ideological” issue.
Maybe when they redo the stash tabs, which I believe is in their plans for some future date, this will be possible.
I would also like to point out that getting 200 tabs is way way way more storage space than any ARPG gives you for free. You can get that many in PoE but only after dropping some serious cash.
You’d be hard pressed to even come up with a dozen online games that give you that much storage space. Even in SP games it’s very rare.
Personally, I think 200 tabs is already a very reasonable limit. I wouldn’t be opposed to more in an ideological setting, but only if it doesn’t affect performance.
I can more easily see them change it so that you get 1-2 tabs per faction rank while keeping the 200 tab limit. Which would basically help you get your tabs set up sooner but keeping the same limit.
In terms of development, this is as close to zero effort as you can get. You already have faction rewards being triggered when you level up. All you need to add to that is simply call the buying a new tab method, which already exists.
The issue would only be performance, not development time.
Also, given how often Mike gets asked about this, it’s not just “5 people” (I know you weren’t saying that literally). It’s still a minority, but there are enough people that would like an increase, especially older players.
@DJSamhein difference in this and Poe is we get good loot here - also the whole farm an item - nem tower 15 tabs of it, take item then hit turtle then collect then re-do lol, need a lot of space for those bigger items but yeah this season I tried my best to keep it low still ended up with 100 and the dumb part is 30 or so of those will have 3-4 things I’m just too lazy to move haha!
Re: performace I wonder what it puts stress on? I had no issues with my stash then people said it was laggy, they rolled out a patch and then boom I suddenly had issues smh
They also said they tinkered with FOV once and that caused issues too which sucks cos I’d love a bit more zoom out would look so much cooler
My guess is that the stress is mostly because of rendering all those items, probably some database issues as well.
If we average 50 items per tab (probably more because of rings/amulets) and you have 100 tabs, that’s 5000 items that have to be rendered and indexed, so they’re ready to be searched. And any change to it (placing an item, removing an item or even moving an item) requires an update.
I don’t really know how it’s coded though, so I’m just guessing from a programmer’s viewpoint what the bottleneck could be.
As for the lag this season, my guess is that it’s some sort of bug regarding the remove-only tabs from previous seasons. I never played season, so my stash always behaved fine, both online and offline. Most cases I’ve seen players had tabs from previous seasons.
I do expect that one to be fixed next season, though.
Yeah, the more you zoom out, the more you have to render. It’s why almost all RPGs have a limit to the zoom.
Yeah I guess all those items would cause a bit of chaos but then I’d have thought 1000s of people popping loot bombs with prophecies and other things might be hectic. Anyways also not a coder so no clue can’t even speculate from my side so won’t try lol
Id happily take a 5 tab max if they pushed fov out tho haha
