Spriggan Form Vines Melee vs Spell

In Spriggan Form, the Summon Vines skill shows Melee minion tag even after picking Razor Vines which says they do Spell damage. Is this just a tag label issue, or are they still only scaling with Minion Melee instead of Minion Spell?
