Found out tonight that gems only stack up to 50
I’m finding it’s okay. I don’t like that the graphics are all brown & grey. It makes me fall asleep. I find LE has better combat and build customization. Actually prefer LE graphics to D4’s.
One of the biggest complaints about Diablo 3 is probably how bright and vivid it is, so that’s probably why D4 is the way it is.
I love how D4 looks, but I also love how D3 looks. I’m not too worried about that aspect, I guess.
Me either.
It’s almost like people were quite upset that D3 was so far off from D2, that they went back to D2’s roots for D4.
While also forgetting how colourful D2 was.
I’m with you, I like any kind of graphics (*) as long as they are good quality and fit the atmosphere.
Diablo 4 nails it, it is beautiful but gloomy, very dark in mood, extremely immersive. I love it.
Diablo 3 also nailed it, beautiful in a light-mood, relaxing way. Completely different spirit, but also good.
Both work for me, they look good and there is consistency.
I am sure LE will get there too, right now there is a bit too much difference in style between areas, they need to complete the story and find their own atmosphere. No rush.
(*) Except “Pixel Art”. Yuk. I mean, my C64 was great back in the days, but we have a bit more options nowadays, I don’t really want to go back.
No offence but that isn’t saying much. Tell me what wave you can push in Arena then I will grasp how strong (or otherwise) your build is.
I think it has its place in some games but I wouldn’t want to see it everywhere, just like the difference between D3 & D4’s style.
Many corruption pushing builds are not suited for arena. The goals are so different.
What exactly is a Corruption-pushing build? Can you give me an example end explain why such a build is unsuitable for Arena? To push Corruption you need to clear echoes (easy) and kill the Shade (several versions of which are easy). What’s the big deal? Other than speed run ability I guess? The most challenging part of pushing Corruption is that it is so damn tedious.
Oh, is easy.
In Arena there’s a point you can’t barely take any hit from anything, so the best builds usually involve shooting from a corner, or kiting monsters from safe distance, is a mode that usually involves cheesing the monsters.
In corruption you want speed to travel through maps faster, you will sacrifice some defenses for speed, also you don’t need too high defenses, and you can opt out many encounters if you don’t feel like it.
I decided to give D4 a try anyway (despite the deplorable 10 character limit), and the dungeons are quite literally copy/pasted versions of each other (I think procedurally random generated) so the game really feels generic in that sense.
Skills in D4 do not have diversity within them. If you want a different build, you change skills entirely, unlike LE where you can alter the skill itself to work differently with either spec, gear, or both.
Gear in D4 is 100% rng. It doesn’t seem to have the affix crafting or anything even remotely deterministic as to what my gear has on it. And no item filter! I mean, its 2023, Blizzard!
I really could not care less about graphics quality, or it being a big title, AAA, multi-platform, etc. etc. The game in-and-of-itself doesn’t seem as interesting as LE is.
My 2c.
You pick up everything for mats or gold in D4 and one dung is mostly one full inv so there is no need for item filter.
Who needs a filter when you have smart loot!
I am convinced the game was pasted together in less than 2 years using Immortal assets.
Uh… lol nope. I stopped picking up blues and whites like… level 30ish? maybe lower? Whenever I was in full yellows, basically. I don’t even look at anything that isn’t ancestral, but sometimes I pick up sacred staves for the gold.
Also I stopped salvaging a long time ago…
The only material I’m hurting for is the stupid Forgotten Souls that only come from Helltide, where you can get 30, maybe 40? over 90 minutes. And then it’s gone for a while. Really awful. Should just always be going, rotating every 60-120 minutes, and not taking our leftovers when it does.
As for loot filters… Diablo doesn’t drop as much loot as PoE or LE. It doesn’t need it. I’d still like it, but it’s not necessary. You’d also be missing out on gold from selling items, and gold sinks in D4 are absurd.
I and friends pick up all blue/yellow. Start rerolling stats and gold will be spent very quickly. I have 2 items with rolled minimal value and next roll cost 5M each.
The reroll algorithm is absolutely borked.
I have played to lvl 56 on rogue, lvl 45 on druid and kind of gave up, level scaling is just cringe, if you somehow screw up your build you cannot go fight mobs that are easier (if you go down world tiers your loot will not be as high level thus making it even worse for you later if you try and go up again while higher level).
Game is also extremely hostile to respeccing as if you dare go down in power, the mobs will feel like a brick wall to kill unless your new build is better and you have all the right legendaries/aspects from the moment you respec.
resistance are 100% a dead stat on gear as they have horrible disminishing return and will contribute to basically nothing, you’re better of ignoring those stats completely and trying to reroll them.
The mount feels awful to control and will get stuck in literally anything and everything.
sometimes the animations of spells feel really wacky and forced, you often stutter step because there is no casting while moving, even something as normal as a buff on yourself and it feels especially bad if you try to chain 2-3 spells back to back where sometimes they just won’t queue up and you’ll stand there wondering where your 3rd cast was.
So yeah, did not have a great time in my case, I would have a lot more to say about the forced online play and all that entails too, especially considering there is no trading and such. But to be honest I really feel like I wasted my money, event if I played the whole campaign, I was not having a particularly good time and hoped it would get better later if I had strong build. It did not.
Agreed, good post. 80 is the real max level, at that point there is nothing to aspire to beyond uber lilith.
