SO my idea was shuriken main skill others like support. but throw attack affix doesnt exist in the passive tree. its like 2 or 3 nodes. doesnt scale with bow attacks is absurd. cant proc marksman attack speed buff what i got from SELECTING MASTERY. dissapointing. any changes!?
Odds are good that a lot of the throwing passives will be in the Falconer tree.
Well, Shurikens is a throwing skill, not a bow skill, but it does still need more support in both Marksman & Blademaster passive trees.
IMO, it would be nice to see throwing skills added to the following nodes:
- Veil of Night, add throwing attack speed & give throwing skills a chance to gain a stack of Dusk Shroud.
- Crimson Shroud, allow throwing skills to proc it.
- Blood Dance, add throwing damage leech.
- Once, add some flat damage but less than the melee damage since IMO the throwing attacks should get higher added damage effectiveness.
- Flash of Steel, add throwing attack speed.
Then on the Marksman tree I’d probably add some on the following nodes:
- Draining Arrows, add some throwing attack speed.
- Barbed Arrows, add bleed chance on throwing attack hit.
- Thief’s Quiver, add leech for throwing attacks.
- Barrage of Pain, allow throwing skills to proc this.
- Poison Tipped Arrows, add poison chance to throwing attacks.
i have tried shurioken and not bene a fan of it thx to low suport only good throwing talent is in marksman tree and it scales of the 50% dmg for using a bow. thers a node in shift talent that makes you throw around 4 or 5 shurikens every time you use shift and if you use the chakram node thers a talent there that increases the dmg of chakram for every shuriken you wuld have cast. you can even get free shuriken trhows from shadows and theres a chance to cast free shurikens in the dancing strike tree. besides that i think that shurikens have a rly good tree whit so many options on how to play whit shuriken.
Shuriken like every throw attacks, beneficiate mainly from crit stats. You have the main damage source in the rogue tree, bladedancer is only useful to get most crit chance and multiplier and to get some scaling damage.
For more base damage, you’ll need the throw damage affix on rings.
Marksman is a no go for shuriken imo as nothing in the class beneficiate the skill. You can still grab the throwing damage points, but that’s 15 points of investment that could be use in the bladedancer tree for better damage.
And attack speed, and % increased damage & flat added damage. Very little of which is on either passive tree. The only things on the bladedancer tree that benefit throwing attacks is Weapon of Choice, Flow & Scarlet Stream. Marksman gives you flat 50% increased damage, Bladedancer gives you more shadows that will throw your shurikens aswell…
Flat damage is already in rogue tree plus double affixes on rings you have “decent” base damage. But i totally agree that a second base damage node for throw like there is for bow in the marksman tree would have been a nice addition.
Just with the throw attack speed on rogue tree plus shuriken skill tree you have decent throwing speed too.
Flow is a bad idea on shuriken imo as you want to spam it not do a specific 4 skill combo to tigger it. You get the increased damage with perfection stakcs and keen node in the skill tree.
A huge roll riverbend grasp and the only thing that marksman gives you (50% increased damage) is already inferior.
But I do agree that the class tree (at first glance) gives the feeling that it was mainly thought for dw and not that much for throw attacks.
There’s 8 phys damage on the Rogue tree, melee gets the same 8 + 16 from Once & +15 from the mastery. Ranged gets the same 8 + 5 from Assassin’s quiver & +30 from Sniper’s Gambit. Given that the added damage effectiveness of both throwing skill is 100% (compared to 250% for shield throw, that’s a bit of a disparity.
I deliberately wasn’t going into gear, since bow skills have more support there as well (attack speed, % bow damage, flat fire/phys damage all on bow/quiver & weapon implicits). While bow & melee skills get all the passive nodes on their respective mastery trees.
I understand what you mean.
I personnally think that the game lacks a whole class of item that are purposefuly made for throw skill with throw base damage like bow is now. In general I do think too that throw skills doesn’t have a lot of love, at least that’s the impression I have.
What could be reproach to the rogue is that shuriken, if you want to main it, can’t be played with both masteries, or as we discussed doesn’t benefit at all from on of them at least.
I kinda would like an item base with throwing damage implicit, maybe like Sceptres & Staves have both melee & spell damage, but I’d rather have the passive support first then added item bases (since items would need all sorts of animations while passive support would “just” be a numerical change).
There are plenty of possibilities if you even want to go with the thematic of throwing weapons :
- Shuriken
- Kunai
- Darts
- Throw axes
- Throw knifes
If you want to do an equivalent of bow+quiver you can do :
- Slingshot and stones
- blowpipe and darts
Etc…
Effectively the affixes additions would be less of a toll in terms of work, but I find it weird that everything related to throw feels just “shoehorned” as in one of the most important feature of the game (the weapons) it purely just doesn’t exist.
i think they should add bow dmg tag to the skill and it solved most of problems. is that simple.i will try bladedancer instead of marksman. idk anything about falcion but i think its like mix of everything melee/range/pets and TRAPS.
