Shield Tweaks?

In PoE2 you simply have higher stat requirements to wield 2H weapons. However, they made it so that stat stacking is too good not to use, so there is no point in skipping 2H over 1H.
In LE there are no stat requirements for gear (some gear is class locked, though) and what they do is give you a penalty.
For dual wield you take 9% more damage (not all classes can dual wield and not every weapon can be dual wielded), to use a 2H+shield (exclusive to FG) you will do 20% less damage and have 10% less attack speed, so it should balance somewhat so both options are valid in different builds. And they’ll be watching the data to tweak it if necessary.

Yeah, Aaron’s builds are usually good for beginners because he doesn’t use high-end items like Ravenous Voids or Red Rings.
Maxroll’s builds are also good for beginners, imo, because they do a good job of explaining stuff and have a good progression, even if they tend to be not so optimized for endgame as lastepochtools.com builds.

People will usually give you good advice over here. That’s not to say that some people won’t answer that on some things, but for the most part you can post your build issues here and people will give you good tips on it.
And if you don’t want build spoilers (for example, you want to figure things out on your own and don’t want guides), people will even just give you pointers on what to improve, rather than simply tell you what you should change.

That being said… “Git gud, scrub”

Hahah love it! Yeah I was just running builds to get used to the game quicker as I know the new content/league starts soon otherwise I would have tried harder to learn. I think so far since I’ve only played sent and some ritualist I’ve got an ok handle and an idea of what I want to do on the 17th. Hope the rework doesn’t throw a spanner in that too much!

Thanks again, appreciate you and your help

The rework will likely change a lot and your Sentinels will require redoing when it launches. We’re expecting lots of passive changes, as well as skill tree changes. Volatile Reversal is being completely redone (it used to be a mandatory skill for any Sentinel).

As for gameplay, most of the impactful changes will be in deep endgame, so that shouldn’t change your experience much for now.

I’d say there’s no need to worry about high corruption or about the new season. You can simply continue playing your current character and see how far you get.

When the new season starts, you’ll get a passive tree reset so you’ll simply put the points back in. I’m pretty sure the skills will still work the same way as they work today.

I haven’t touched that volatile skill due to hearing it was changing. Oh so theres no seperation of current characters to a ‘standard’ and then you make new? You can just carry on?

There is a separation between standard (called legacy in LE) and season. But for now EHG is adding core content, meaning that all the new stuff gets added to both of them at the same time. For now, there’s no season exclusive stuff, so you won’t miss out on anything by staying in legacy. At most, some of the pinnacle content like uber Abby will not be available in legacy until it’s been killed in season or a week has passed, like they did in 1.1.

So the only real reason you have for playing a seasonal character, for now, is if you like the fresh start and fresh economy (or you want to compete on the leaderboards). Everything is available in all modes, including true offline (LE has 2 offline modes, one where you connect to the servers and even have chat, and one where you don’t connect to the servers at all).

There is, but even after your character moves to “standard”, but you can still continue playing it

Ahhh gotcha! I do like the fresh start and being on par level / end game for parties and stuff so I’ll probably do that since working from home being my own boss means I can put in some good hours lol

Have the devs actually said that? Or is that the community assumption based on things like the 2h+shield & VR rework?

No, Mike said that on stream. He said there were lots of changes for Paladin and Void Knight specifically, and just a few changes for Forge Guard.

There were a bunch of spoilers from the dev streams, we’ve seen some new nodes from Volatile Reversal, Devouring Orb, Vengeance, Rive, Javelin, Multistrike, Shield Throw and several VK and Paladin passives.

I wouldn’t call it a heavy rework though. Most of these new nodes are either adding something on top of the current skill or unlocking a new build option, but VR is the only skill confirmed to be actually reworked.

Good to know, thanks, I’ve been busy Friday evenings so haven’t been able to catch the streams.

They’ve mentioned it as a complete Sentinel Overhaul

EHG: We need to change VR, its in 99.99% of Sentinel Builds
Also EHG: Hum… We need to re do Sentinel now ^^

I just really hope they fixed the old passives. Things like Judgement - Ascendant Liturgy or Abyssal Echoes - Void Purifier.

May I ask what your gripe is with thoses 2 specifically. They fill a nice niche I feel

They were just two examples off top of my head

The first one provides physical penetration to a fire skill + removes a good healing source from a melee attack. I’ve seen like one build using it.

The second one is preceded by the dot removal, its hit damage is weak and its healing is overshadowed by the other healing options. I have yet to see it being used. I asked about this second one and apparently it was created before some of the other healing options existed.

It also provides fire pen, but yes.

We talkin underused then we gotta go on the entire left+top side of Anomaly.

I mean, we can start a list
