Rip Blood mana reduction not working

So I am using the Rip Blood ability and I got Blood Splatter from the Eviscerate node. Now, the base cost of Rip Blood is 0, but Eviscerate adds a +6 mana cost, so now my Rip Blood costs 6 mana to cast. I also have 3 points into the Thirst node, for a total of -3 mana cost and +9% cast speed. This means that my Blood Rip should now cost only 3 mana to cast right? Well unfortunately for me, Blood Rip is still costing me 6 mana to cast.

After a long time exploring the skill tree and holding alt over every node, I discovered that Blood Splatter seems to have a hidden, additional mana cost of +7, and seems to only deal half the damage that Rip Blood does. The only mention of this is if you hold alt over the Crimson Flood node, which doesn’t even tell you that the node has extra information.

So if I understand correctly, does this mean that the mana reduction is in fact working? Is it costing me 3 mana to cast Rip Blood, then extra mana for Blood Splatter? Is the mana reduction of Thirst somehow applying to Splatter, costing me an additional 3.5 mana per cast? That math would make sense, as my mana goes from 84 down to 78 every time I cast Rip Blood.

However, the tree for Rip Blood specifically mentions that “nodes do not apply to Blood Splatter unless stated otherwise”, which kind of kills that theory. So then my last thought is that the order in which you invest points into the tree makes a difference. I got Thirst before I got Eviscerate, so in other words I got the mana reduction while the ability still had a 0 mana cost.

Is it possible that by getting Thirst first and Eviscerate second the mana reduction has not been applied to the ability properly? So the mana cost was 0, gets reduced by 3 which leaves it at 0, then gets increased to 6?

Thanks for the report!

I went and removed points from my tree to test something, and discovered that I did not remember the base ability properly. The base casting cost is 3 mana, not 0 as I had thought.

I guess the only bug was in my math.

Sorry for wasting your time :frowning:
