no RPG does that.
I’ll take your word for it; lost many an hour to RPGs over the last 30 years, but my game selection is pretty small. LE actually does have (1) 2HW that has blocking - Bo's Anarchy
- so the precedence is there. Since there’s no blocking animations to deal with, adding it to 2HW would be simple. Besides, if rings and gloves can add blocking, then certainly staves can.
Not only Bo’s Anarchy.
Also:
Dreamthorn 2h sword
Jaspar’s something - 2h staff
Phalanx - 2h spear that gives block when having a riposte ready from vengeance.
But in general, the idea of 2h weapons is that you give up on the defensive layer a shield can provide for more boom.
So I’m fine with block not really being a thing for 2h weapons aside from a few exceptions.
Agreed, but I’d still rather see them here than on rings/gloves.
That’s fair, but that sounds a lot more like twitchy games like Hades rather than a loot focussed arpg.
PoE has some defensive passives while using 2h weapons, staves have block implicits, etc.
Yep, it absolutely does.
That’s the major issue with this problem… you either fix it in a way where everything is non-melee at the end, and the more it is fixed the less it is melee.
Or you change it to a very different style of gaming usually seen… but get the respective feeling of ranged versus melee handled through the limitations commonly seen in other genres.
It’s not without a reason of the major issues of the genre sadly, and no clear-cut solution being available.
Sure, there are exceptions to the rule, as usual … But in general, adding block chance to every 2h weapon, as was requested, wouldn’t make sense
