Inspecting other would be a cool feature. I would rather them fix/add more important features and systems first before adding this though.
This sounds great, but I dont feellike the issues have been resolved.
Maybe improved a bit, but loading is still much worse than a month ago and right now (27.2.24 21.20 CET) the servers are down again.
SO i think the code hasent improved much, it just works better with less people beeing online.
( I have crosschecked working hours and server crashes against Streamcharts and its straight corrolation)

My brutaly honest feedback regarding the 1.0 server issues:
In terms of gameplay, Last Epoch currently feels to me like a 9/10 but very very close to 9.5/10. After following you since patch 0.8.2, I know you guys clearly know what you’re doing, so keep doing it!
However, it is more than important to address the gigantic elephant in the room. The launch was not ok, the offline experience ran smoothly for me, but I really wanted to play online for multiple reasons. Even playing mostly solo, the lack of cosmetics in offline mode is a deal breaker for me. So I chose to wait, had to look at the login and loading screens for hours, but ultimately I had fun. I played every day and I enjoyed it.
However, it is fair to say this is not how it went for everybody. I have somewhat flexible hours that allowed me to play every day, but some people simply do not have that luxury. Not having stable servers for the first 24 hours was something many of us, ARPG and MMO veterans, were expecting. However, we reached Saturday and things were still kinda grim for many players.
I love Last Epoch and I want to see it grow over the years, but in IMHO an apology post and a cape won’t be enough to turn the tide here. There are still two big issues that I believe EHG needs to address:
- Trust: the ARPG scene is becoming more and more competive (multiplicative with other modifiers), not to mention people like to play games from other genres that have seasonal content. Without trust, many might prefer other games when patches are released for Last Epoch because they and their friends can’t know for sure if they will be able to have a good time, or be able to play together at all. My suggestion is to not just keep improving server stability (as you are doing at the moment), but also be 100% honest with the results of your efforts after 1 or 2 weeks. Show us metrics, give us your availability percentages, show how many queues or LE-61 are still happening.
- A “better” apology: a lot of people (and I really mean a LOT of people) that I talked to felt that the apologies after the chaotic server situation were very underwhelming. To add on that, the announcement that what we’ll receive for the trouble is the Autumnnal Wrap is also something that I simply cannot put on the same level of what happened. The announcement mentions “heartfelt gratitude” and “unique token of appreciation”, but at the end of the day it is just a cloak MTX. It is not flashy, it doesn’t look particularly unique, it just looks ok to me. But that’s not the point: art is subjective, some people will like the cloak, some will not. For those who don’t, this gift can actually have the opposite effect. Think about having a birthday party where almost everything goes wrong, but at the end of the night your parents give you a pair of socks as an “apology gift”. Oh boy, I assume many of us wouldn’t appreciate it if we were kids again. Again, art is subjective, just give everyone 50 or 100 Epoch Points so they can actually choose what they find pretty.
TL;DR: Love the game, love the devs, but the launch was a disaster. EHG already managed to do some solid work in terms of server stability but they could do a better job handling the narrative.
PLEASE proper support for steam controller would be incredible. I realize I’m a minority, but playing other arpgs (a certain game from “an entertaining crate”) with a proper support for the steam controller is so awesome and ergonomic. It woud also extend to the controls on the steam deck. It would be a dream to have that kind of support in Last Epoch, but I know it’s probably not going to happen soon.
Thank you so much guys! Really loving the game. Please keep up the great work. Regarding the quote above, this is great, just please make cross save and cross progression a thing when you do launch on consoles. Let us keep our one accounts across the board and don’t split it.
