If you do not want each and every customer to change builds from each and every shared stash in the courses of combat areas, monster areas, outside safety town areas, etc., you can solely permit accessing both ‘gold shop for selling items for gold’ and ‘each and every shared stash for depositing items’ in the courses of combat areas, monster areas, outside safety town areas, etc. I am of the opinion that the resolution can have resolved the lost item problem in the courses of combat areas, monster areas, outside safety town areas, etc., presently; onwards. Hence, no more lost items and no more lost gold from missing selling lost items.

I might be misunderstanding here. In Last Epoch, we intentionally set the sell price for items extremely low as we don’t want “vendor runs” to be a thing - typically, the time taken to vendor items nets less money than if that time was instead just spent killing enemies. We wouldn’t want to introduce mechanics that promote collecting items purely to sell as we want players out there killing enemies as progression, not sitting at vendors for progression.

As far as respeccing often, while there may be a subset of players who do this, I’m not aware of this being an issue. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen it recommended that players regularly change up their build between activities. Making “respeccing” only available in combat areas as an alternative method of disincentivizing this action also sounds like it would lead to a lot of the same aggravation that’s currently experienced with things like Nemesis: where you get attacked while in a menu, and either die, or just get extremely annoyed.
