I was looking at the new uniques, specifically unbroken legion. Are they serious? Skeletons are the worst of all perm minions in the game, they do almost no damage, have no hp… they are basically trash, and this dumb unique may double the garbage but then it prevents you from using any other summon? Range skele are already gutted from the last rework so having more of those is useless. warriors do no damage and have no hp and they block themselves. Rogues are bad as well. Why are devs so hellbent on making necro the absolute dumpster fire of the game?
Yep, plainly spoken they could’ve named it ‘Splintered Legion’ and it would be more fitting, because that’s primarily what you’ll see.
Lots of bone fragments but none walking about.
I really don’t think you know how good Skellies can be. Rouges particularly get MASSIVE DPS, they get 100% multiplicative dps per non rouge skelly. Meaning 10 skellies, 5 warriors 5 rouges, grant each of the 5 rouges 500% multiplicative damage.
I run a very successful necro zoo minion build and my 10 skellies (5 rouges, 5 warriors) are my premier dps dealers.
The new helmet means the max number of skellies can be as high as 26, this means.. 13 rouges at 1300% multiplicative damage each… That is STUNNING potential dps.
I for one am very interested in trying out this new helmet.
I’ve taken pure skellies necro to around 300 corruption before Scales of Lemniscate, guaranteed LPs and exalted items were a thing (yes it was very long time ago). You can definitely make it work. It aint gonna push 10k corruption, like skele archmage could, nor will it oneshot bosses, like abom/golems did. Its a viable build though. At some point damage doesn’t even matter, its your survivability. Can’t deal dmg or clear echos when you’re dead lol
Yes, rogues do a decent chunk of damage.
The issue still is that they’re paper, all of em.
First off damage, to actually showcase the numbers.
Warrior: 18 phys and a 11 phys 11 necrotic attack.
Archer: 20 phys (and is slower then all others by roughly 20%)
Rogue: 15 phys (with 75% effectiveness, meaning your minion damage does a LOT less) and 30 phys shuriken every 4 seconds.
Base multipliers:
Warrior: 0
Archer: -28% damage
Rogue: -40% damage but… 30% melee attack speed countering it to a decent degree.
Overall at the beginning rogues are the worst ones, only with investment they become better.
If we count 22 skeletons, with 1/3rd being rogues we get let’s say 7 rogues. Hence 15 leftover other skellies. Which yes, is a lot.
Each can double their baseline damage, which is good, but let’s see it in reality with 400% minion damage.
For base attacks only at the moment as those are the bulk of damage done.
Warriors: 18 x 5 = 90
Archer: 20 x 0,8 [Attack speed reduction from base attack] x 0,72 [Base negative multi] x 5 = 57,6
Rogue: 15 x 1,3 [attack speed bonus] x (0,6 [Base negative multi]+ 15) x (5 x 0,75 [effectiveness]) = 15 x 1,3 x 15,6 x 3,75 = 1140,75
That’s rouuuughly their DPS at their stage.
As you can see, warriors and archers are totally useless, completely.
Rogues actually do a little bit of damage.
They can be buffed through melee damage for minions as base and obviously a much higher minion damage overall… but that will only bring them in line with most other skills in the game, albeit not even close.
The primary upside of minions is their aggre dispersion from the player.
With 7 rogues as a result you can expect ~200k DPS I would say, which are all one-shots and DoT-crumblers though.
Up-time since they block each other and also crumble and hence are dead a lot (as well as the others giving em multipliers) and need to engage enemies at range is I imagine around 30% at best.
That’s not ‘great’ at all.
That’s ‘ok’, barely.
Skellies have a base health of 100 only after all, that’s… laughable.
Edit: Messed up the increased damage modifier for rogues, it’s not 5 x 0,75 but instead 1 + 4 x 0,75, bringing it to 4 in that case. While notworthy it’s not the world.
Ah yes, the one poison build which is decent, still struggling against Uberroth heavily though since your skellies are… still… paper.
Why do you think the slow-chance in Aura of Decay has to be taken?
And there is no bone golem pulling threat and tanking, meaning they’re hit all the harder.
Also, dread-shade… you got no golem, so where would you attach it to? A skeleton… great! ![]()
As is showcased, summon skeletons IS the damage dealer. And yes, that I agree with.
This is why you want as many up at the same time. That is what the helmet does.
What you forego though is the already meager survivability of your skeletons. Hence keeping them actually up is significantly harder.
That comes at a direct cost of DPS, and very very likely with constant severe mana issues as you need to keep re-summoning, even if they sometimes do stand back up, which is - in my opinion - fairly much barely counteracting the core issue.
Also, if you’ve looked at the build, it is not viable anymore anyway.
Since now rogues ONLY get the bonus from OTHER skeletons. Hence you don’t have 10+ rogues running around, you got a lot less. Those instead aren’t limited to 200% multiplicative, which is why I went with the buff being applied 15 times, hence the 15,6 times multiplier (as they base reduction of damage is 40% multi)
So, instead of having a 2,6 multiplier they got a massive 15,6 multiplier, which is amazing, absolutely so! DPS is there when you combine it with Aura of Decay… but alas… your dread shade still is non-existent most of the time.
Summon skeletal mage is non-existent too, so no traversal this way.
Come on, at least look what the actual situation is with the builds.
‘They never die’ is because the golem does take the aggro, but without a dread-shaded golem tanking stuff… what does tank? What does capture aggro? Ah yes… skellies! Which suck at tanking.
You can already destroy Uber with Bleed skellies and keep them healthy with rip blood. You need to invest a bit into minion health true but they can survive and kill uber pretty quickly.
The problem is, EHG hates minions. You look at all minion builds and I mean real minion builds, not builds that you cast skeleton shaped fireballs or builds where you have to attack as much as your minions. No a build where your minions kill the enemies by actually attacking them and you do not do much of anything unless it’s something like casting a curse or a buff occasionally.
How many minion builds do we have that are actually competitive with not even meta builds, just competitive with A+ tier builds, you know builds that clearly more than 1K corruption without even breaking a sweat? Yeah it’s only abomination and abomination is a horrible build to play because the clear isn’t great and having to make sure he doesn’t dies because the whole re-summoning process is a pain.
Everything else falls way short from Abomination as far as minion builds go and even abomination isn’t an S tier build because imagine allowing minions to be S tier. That would be crazy in LE.
Moving aside clear speed… some options:
Option 1: Wouldn’t 22+ fire archer skeletons with the new legendary idol [+1% minion fire penetration per overcapped 3% fire res] + extra fire penetration from the necro tree [1% minion fire penetration per 5% overcapped fire res] be at lest a decent starting point?
e.g.: 150 Fire res → 75 Overcapped → 75/3 + 75/5= 25+15 = 40% fire penetration
You can add a Fire Aura of Decay if you find the unique boots too.
Option 2: 22+ Skeleton Rogues with Aura of Decay Buff + [Area] Dread Shade converted to Poison + idol with immunity to Poison for minions + Lethal Concentration + ton of vitality scaling (necro tree: more minion DOT) and increased minion poison damage.
As for the skeletons being fragile: Doesn’t matter. Each of them will auto-regenerate each 3s
1.) Theoretically, it’s definitely a good starting point, but I don’t think it’ll go all too far given that archers tend to be rather low DPS overall. They have a debuff in damage baseline as well as the lowest attack speed of all skeleton types.
2.) Yes, that’s solid DPS-wise, the dread-shade is a problem though. If you use the single one it’ll be flimsy as that rogue can just crumble suddenly, and otherwise it’s a spamming thing, but can work.
As for the fragility: it’s not a 100% regenerate, also it’s 3 seconds, 3 seconds is a lot given that every missing skeleton is a significant reduction in DPS. The regeneration is a mild counter to otherwise untenable mana costs to uphold a sensible increase in skeletons during a fight, which then would make the unique a downside rather then a potential upside.
You can have multiple infinite dread shadows no problem:
- Vile Ghast node swaps converts necrotic into poison… but also enables access to Pernicious Pact.
- Pernicious Pact swaps the infinite life drain for infinite scaling poison
- But if your minions are immune to poison due the corrupted Idol affix for “Your Minions Are Immune to Poison”, then you have no drawback what so ever of Dread Shadows on poison minions
There is also the cool interaction with the cold conversion from Lich’s Scorn. This conversion overrules Vile Ghast conversion for Poison. So you can make same trick for Cold minions ![]()
My five cryomancers with infinite dual shadows were really cool in season 4 due to this trick ![]()
Which is likely why Aaron mentioned Abby not Uberroth. Still, >>800c is nothing?
I’m going to do what you’re doing & just stop reading here & go off on my own tangent. Have a look at the build, rather than one skill or the thumbnail.
You could “just” remove Dread Phalanx & Shambling Steel/Mightier than the Sword to get an 2-3 points.
Individual Operator can be spec’d into
Why? Is the Golem going to be dead most of the time?
One wonders what build you’re looking at, it clearly has ~29 points in the one I linked.
Come on, at least look at the actual build I linked (though tbf you’d have to either navigate through Aaron’s site or find it on LETools, though those aren’t, hopefully, too difficult for someone of your vaunted IQ).
Seriously though, which build were you looking at? 'Cause it definitely wasn’t this one. It wasn’t this one was it? Or maybe this one?
Umm, the dread shaded Golem?
lol brother no minions survive uberroth in this game, the aoe kills even juiced golems/aboms, frogs with 500% minion hp+leech+regen last two ticks - tested it last time when we could still have 21+ froggers
its just the nature of the beast
[Removed] just admit you’re wrong and we can move on. Skele only can do 600+ corruption easy right now. Double the skeles and multiply their damage by 4x or more and it will Easily do 800-1000 corruption which is the highest in the game before it’s useless.
I was talking about that build as unbroken legion re-vamped.
Which wouldn’t work even remotely.
Yeah, the base build works fine, though the topic is about unbroken legion, is it not?
Bleed skellies mentioned by @Remedi could be a option though potentially.
All in all it’s still a very weird unique given that it’s a horde-unique for a summoner. And hordes are chaotic but overrun content commonly… which is not quite a thing in Last Epoch though, it goes kinda the opposite with individual minions being the core powerhouse and hordes being… awful in comparison plainly spoken.
We had the wraithlord that’s fallen off substantially and now abom, but even abom is… generally a decent build, not a powerhouse though. Not remotely bad, but not fantasic either.
Yes, and that’s quite a problem, isn’t it?
A core boss and - formerly - the only of its kind in that sort of position being basically a hard counter against all minion builds itself is a huge issue of the game itself.
It really depends on your personal skill level, I almost got him while Idols were still bugged with frogs - last phase is no joke though so I’ve stopped there. You can definitely kill it with minions, it’s just a pain in the ahh and takes 4-5 minutes because of all the downtime. There’s plenty of video evidence how Wraithlord/Aboms are clearing the uber quite easily. I’ll maybe try skellies this go around and see, its way harder than specialized boss-killers or tankier masteries but you can do it with enough expertise (and gear, duh).
If this was the only new item that makes “no sense” lol… the guys working on this studio are all sons of shareholders faking their work nothing new, all efforts went to the eidolon gloves ![]()
I bet there’s going to be some good minion buffs in the patch notes tomorrow
It’s not potentially, you can already make the build work without the helm. Personally I’ve not gone trough uberroth yet, but I’ve seen it and the one really in danger to die is…actually you. Nevetheless the dmg is pretty big enough to phase uberroth quickly and the helmet will more than double the dmg (not to mention the scaling of defenses)
The build itself isn’t even that costly, the planner uses ravenous voids for sure, but you can use julra’s gloves until then
And here’s the thing this is based on a wraith build that does pretty much the same
