Devs already said that everything will be accessable for solo players.
They will try to implement Group/Party Content in such a way that is not just pure scaling of mob Damage/Health. They gave an example that maybe some boss fights will inculde additional mechanics for multiplayer, but everythign will be playable for solo players.
I’m not up to date but afaik no solo player did as high grift runs like people in partys did. I could be completly wrong and things might have changed but this was the most obvious observation and showed single play was inferrior and not competeteive. Noone cared in the end because they simply compared solo runs. No harm donw but still single players could’nt reach the same level.
Because most scaled up single player content is stupid and soon scaled to a level where fun sin’t a thing anymore. You need to build the best meta stuff with the best gear because everything is scaled to extends that are not fun anymore. Look at Borderlands 3 Mayham mode for example. It’s still not fun to shoot on the same mob for a minute because the only real artifical “difficult” increase they have are so much more HP but are still as easy to dodge and fight like always.
I highly doubt that but then again EHG suprised me from time to time. Still when I look at the Arena while keeping in mind it’s a placeholder I can’t convince myself that scaled SP content is good for MP. In my eyes scaled SP content is just a sad excuse for making good MP content that would eat up time ressources and money.
On the other hand we’ll be in phase 4 soon enough when they want to keep their release time frame.
While i agree that some sceptism in today’s gaming Industry is healthy, i think EHG since very early alpha always underpromised and overdelivered.
With every patch they bring they deliver what the community wants and also throw in some surprises. So while have to wait for MP, i am sure that they will come up with something interesting.
Even without “special mechanics”, as long as real “group” play is possible and not just a Gimmick (i am speaking of playing TOGETHER, and not every body breezes through the level and at the end you meet at the boss, aka PoE). That’s the more important part for me at least to really enjoy multiplayer.
The foundation on many classes/skill spec trees is already there.
Maybe I’m missing something but multiplayer does this exact same thing, just with two or three or four or whatever players. Exact same thing. Gear to the best meta. Grind. Eventually hit the top of the capabilities. How exactly is that ‘different’ from solo play and why does it need ‘special’ help?
Not necessarily. I remember the Revan expansion in SWTOR had a raid at the end which was your standard MMO raid affair. Except they also did a version of it for solo people where there were a number of NPCs with you that did stuff & they had specific mechanics for the player to do in that solo environment. It worked fairly well.
because this isn’t a multiplayer game, it is a single player game with multiplayer added secondary. So yes in a single player game all content should be able to be beaten by a single player without the need to group up.
Now if this was a multiplayer game it would be a different story completely, but unfortunately for you it isn’t.
Hmm… I really love GW2 story or dungeons story mode, and play arena-PvP time to time. Never bothered myself with raids, fractals or roaming WvW mode (mass PvP).
For me, it’s one of the best games with a lot of different things to do solo or with mates .
GW2 does do open world quests exceptionally well, no (or very little) griefing by someone spawn camping the mobs you need for a quest, all you need to do is tag the mob with a hit & you get credit for it. Or if there are events happening in the world you can join in if you want to get the rewards for it.
