Who are they? Where do they come from?
If I’m correct, they’re the only monsters we don’t see in the campaign.
Are they remains from an ancient version of the game?
They’re what happened to the people Sarno banned.

Not sure thwere the Trolls appear, but Ice Golems are in Chapter 7 in Heoborea.
Arena & Monoliths certainly.

There are ice golems as well. Both those and moss trolls are holdovers from before alpha and will be removed before long as they’re not up to our current standards. They’ve only been kept in this long in order to bolster enemy variety.

I must admit I like the moss trolls. Ice golems are cool but seem a bit strange, while I’d really like to see more about the moss trolls. So they’re leaving? OK, onto new enemies then! 
Yes, that’s it, very different from the goliaths. Smaller and round shaped.
This explains a lot. I was also wondering why these particular enemies seem so unfinished. Good to know.
