Hey everyone,
I’ve been loving Last Epoch lately. I do like the crafting system. But one thing that consistently breaks the flow for me is the sheer volume of gear drops. Even with a loot filter, I find myself constantly managing inventory instead of engaging with the gameplay. It’s starting to feel like loot quantity is getting in the way of loot quality.
Am I the only one that feels like this ?
Here’s what I think could make the experience more enjoyable and more rewarding:
• Reduce gear drop frequency, especially in endgame.
Focus drops on uniques, legendaries, set items, and experimental gear—things that feel exciting and worth picking up.
• Increase crafting shard drop rates.
Shards are meaningful—they empower us to shape gear around our builds rather than relying on RNG.
• Introduce shard-focused content.
Events or dungeons that reward crafting materials over raw gear.
• Improve smart loot targeting.
Better match build archetypes, making drops feel more relevant and personalized.
I think this would, reduce inventory fatigue, and make crafting feel even more central to the game’s identity.
Curious to hear what others think—thanks for reading!
This would actually be bad. The biggest wall to your endgame gear is getting good exalted gear either for wearing or for slamming on uniques.
Getting uniques (other than boss specific drops) is already piss easy where you’ll get most of them with 2LP+ very fast. This is even more the case after imprints came along in 1.2.
You already have that in echoes. Plus all the lizards drop lots of shards/runes/glyphs. So do the Nemesis. So do a bunch of other enemies.
If you play for some time (not even that much, 20h or so is more than enough) you’ll already have plenty of almost all common shards/glyphs/runes and you’ll only be using shatters/removals on the rare affixes, mostly the class specific ones.
Then most likely your loot filter is bad. Depending on the state of the game I get almost no drops shown sometimes for days when I’m set on bases I want to use. Maybe take a second look and increase the tier of affixes shown or narrow it down more by excluding bases you don’t want and so on and so forth.
Thankyou for the replies,
I do now realise it obviously a me issue and That I am still new to Last Epoch and still have alot to learn.
Sadly I am a slow learner and have no freinds and realise I will have to do more reading and try to understand more and learn how to exactly fine tune my loot filer.

these two resources are great and both have a bunch of pre-made lootfilter for various builds. But I strongly suggest you learn at least basics about loot filters in LE. They are not that complicated
To complement on Gilavar’s reply, you can also check [1.2] Heavy’z Casual Loot Filters for all Classes v5.1 Updated with New Unique Rule
Don’t know if he’ll update it for 1.3, but at least there’s a lot of explanations and useful tips in the thread already.
I will update it, but 1 week after the patch dropped.
Due to the new community tester policies regarding “content creation”.
I will do an announcement regarding as well.
But to be fair there will be no new functionality that really changes the filter anyway, most of the new stuff is only visual and auditory feedback.
Not completely. There are some options in the lootfilter that aren’t obvious at first glance so look at it closely. There is a tad bit UI issues involved as well if you don’t sudy every checkbox and every dropdown menue.
If you are new to the game then this isn’t completely on you. When I started to play years ago I overvalued items that were “bad” and I ran out of runes of shattering for example. Then the lootfilter was implemented and I skimmed over it and did only some basic tweaks that removed to little.
Took me some days of fiddeling arround with the lootfilter to get behind it because I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed and I still wasn’t strict enough in the end. Over time this changed and a lot of items i collected became obsolate and I implemented more rules.
Now an endgame toon who has it’s bases in place and the needed uniques at 2LP shows one item once in a blue moon. I don’t play market though so I don’t have the rules for good selling gear in my lootfilter so this reduced the load a lot as well.
As mentioned @Heavy did some good work when it comes to lootfilters and the lootfilters from Maxroll aren’t bad either BUT if you have the time and if you want to understand what you look at toy arround with the Lootfilter.
A friend of mine took a maxroll lootfilter and was completely lost because he never looked at lootfilters and there were all the options for market items and good items for different classes he needed to disable/enable in a big wall of options.
I use lootfilters like guides. Once I understand the groundworks and run into problems I look into guides to find the errors I made and to get better.
The realy good thing is: Once you wrapped your head arround it it’s easy to use and you might have a laugh looking back at this thread.
Thankyou I will Have a look and try study and experiment with loot filters so I can grasp the basics.
Thankyou I will have a read and take time to digest so I can understand.
Thankyou for a detailed reply,
I am also not the sharpest of tools. I do think I have to be more strict also.
Because I have no Friends I play offline mode, whether this is the right choice or not I don’t know, Maybe It is until I fully understand how to play.
I Have Played a Few ARPG’S and some with loot filters. Last Epoch I find is more in depth and you have a lot more choices and freedom in organising filters. I do Like that but until I fully understand the mechanics and tailoring it to my build it does get overwhelming.
I will Take some time out and read up on loot filters, experiment and learn how to tailor them to a specific build. I was once a Hoarder and I’m slowly learning not to be.
