I was playing the game and my computer rebooted for some reason. Once I logged backed into the game the character I was playing is no longer in my list to choose.

I’m really sorry to hear this has happened.
Since the game utilizes local save data, we won’t be able to retrieve characters, stash, or other saved content if the files become corrupted or missing. The game does use Steam’s Cloud Save function, so you may be able to retrieve the files this way.
We know this may discourage you from playing but we would like to let you know that this will not be an issue with Multiplayer characters after patch 0.9.
