Last Epoch’s Season 4 and Beyond: Expansion, Paradox Classes, and Roadmap

Adding my voice to say I would have been okay with paid content but classes … That’s the worst idea. People will start believing paid classes are more powerful and as soon as your game is remotely suspected of pay to win it’s game over.

I understand the harsh reality of being profitable but I don’t see it ending well. I hope you will reconsider even though youtube will be full of react video in three… Two … One.

Cheers

Paid classes right after saying no paid expansion… were you expecting people to be happy with that news? What a joke. Everyone knows new classes are always OP so this just means the game is gonna become pay2win. At that point go play Torchlight Infinite instead. It’s crazy that I used to have so much faith in this project but it’s clear it will never compete with PoE.

and we have another rat company sucking players money for advantage in game… tencent pay you to ruin your game becouse they fear about running players after crap poe2 or what?

I’ve been playing last epoch since it first launched in EA. This is gonna be the first season I am not gonna play. Paid class is not a good idea EHG. Good Bye!

Paid functional DLC? Not expansion even but actually a class which might or might not be better then others?

Yep, that’s a big negative.

As for the roadmap:
What the fuck is this? Is this a joke?

‘Here you go, look what we planned!’ and then you go ahead and write down ‘Cycle 4 and 5’ and ‘Expansion’?
That’s your roadmap?

Not what’ll be the content of it even? Thanks for this marvelous information… that’s beyond disappointing, that’s downright insulting.

Screw seeing you becoming P2W plainly spoken. Expansions? Ok-ish… Paid classes? Get lost EHG, plain and simple.

Seems like ‘all as usual’ after being acquired from Krafton is simply not the case. Maybe the next information we’ll hear is you guys are ‘incentivized’ to leave on your own so a bit more AI can take over?

Get the fucking game finished before you even think about ‘paid this’ and ‘paid that’.

Because it was inherently expected from kickstarter to release and after as never anything changed along the way related to that.

The paid classes is worse then paid expansions. Expansions are not P2W.

And if it’s a cent it would be too much, don’t care about the price, I care about the principle behind it.

It’s Krafton, not Tencent.

Tencent is hands-off.
Krafton is a disaster running wild instead.

Paid classes? Why?
Why was it so hard to relay on the community for your backing. This 100% is a decision made by Krafton. This will just lead to pay to win classes where the entire game will be balanced around this these new classes. You are turning into D4.

Honestly I’m loving Last Epoch and dont mind supporting it.
I’m seeing hate about the “paid class” personally I’m teetering between the maybe it could be good or maybe it could be a bad thing for the game.
I would like to know the cost of this “paid class” … I think that will be what many are looking at as well is cost.

Paid classes? Ok no more support from me. RIP Last Epoch - it was good while it lasted.

It really makes me laugh, the comments some people make about paid content, like, “The game is dead, it’s the end,” etc., when these same guys probably pay for FIFA every year or have a League of Legends account with 600€ worth of skins. The class might cost 5 € or less, and even if it’s 20€, personally, I’d be happy to pay for a game I enjoy. And stop yelling about pay-to-win, omg, pay-to-win, win what? Last Epoch is esports competition?

Is it really that difficult for you to not be bent by what Krafton wants from their new purchase? Why can’t you understand that this kind of money hungry strategy that Krafton forces you to take, will kill your game?!?!?!?!?
The initial pay to play plus support packs should have kept you going if you just made some additional adjustments like lower the prices via shop currency on MTX and provided more of that shop currency in the supporter packs , tbh you just had to look deeply into PoE 1&2 monetization strategy and just Ctrl+C/V they somehow managed to stay afloat with that strategy, how are you any worse.
I was supporting this game from since before launch and I am really sad to see that you are not even trying to be apologetic by the fact that Krafton just bent you with their money hungry schemes…

I’ll hold my judgement and see how it plays out. I have no problem dishing out a little money for anything that isn’t P2W, but it needs to be reasonable at the same time.

Yeah I mean, every other game would usually have the new characters playable with the new content update, rather than having them be a separate buyable option. The exceptions being some kind of fighter games, or something like that. But almost always, at least imo, new content/expansions would include ANY new content, including characters to be a part of the new update/price included, which is part of what they’re paying for, new content. I love LE, I have almost 1200 hours into it juggling 2 kids and a wife, I definitely spend what time I can on it, I don’t believe having a separate payment for playable characters be a good thing, in the case that it is separate from the new content, especially in the case for new players. It’s my understanding that new players will not only have to pay for the new content/expansion, but also the new characters if they want to play? I believe sticking to the cosmetic payments are the way to go, but then again I don’t know if this is something you guys as a company NEED to do because of your new hiring to cover payroll or whatever, I don’t know what your needs are as a company, but again, just my own opinion on the update, everyone has one. LE has been the best ARPG I’ve played besides maybe D2 LoD, definitely felt like the game has been a labor of love, I’d love to see that continue.

Genuinely very, very disapointed :frowning:

I’m fine with paying for the game. I would have bought supporter pack as always, and wouldn’t mind a paid expension either; game is already buy-to-play, and paying for an expension is in the same line of pay-to-play which is fine by me.

However, paid class crosses the P2W line and that’s not okay at ALL.
I’ve openly said that I’ll give you guys the benefit of the doubt despite Krafton’s reputation and I’ll keep playing the game as long as the game is good and the game don’t introduce P2W.

PLEASE, PLEASE re-consider introducing paid classes…
ALL players must ALWAYS be on an even playing field.

If you guys stick to this plan and release this paid class, I’m out.

The big thing that made me drop D3 and never look back was their necromancer. It wasn’t necessarily that it was paid for, rather it was the cost of it which I found absurd. Also on release it absolutely dominated the ladder, and while I don’t really care about that it did demonstrate just how OP it was in comparison.

There’s basically only 2 criteria I’ll consider about it:

  1. are the current classes finally balanced

  2. is the class properly costed. I’ll be able to compare it to the expansion cost, even if the expansion is free to current owners it should still have a price.

The biggest never going to happen will be if 1 isn’t even done. It isn’t inherently terrible, but I’m more in line with paid expansions are a better idea than paid classes; it’s much easier to justify large expansions to the game being worth it than an asset that just interacts with the game.

Not all of this complaining about new classes as paid DLCs… The game has to make money. They are giving us an expansion for free people. All of this sounds pretty good.

to compare apples to apples it would be like getting the Diablo IV expansion Vessel of Hatred for free. That is, all the new lands, dungeons and be able to use the rune system. You would just have to pay for the spiritborn if you wanted to play it.

Sounds fine to me, lol

Last Epoch 4

D4 is paid expansion that includes a class. This is free expansion but pay for the class. Nobody is locked out of content this way so i say thats the best way to introduce this.

I like that the expansion is free so I can continue to play with friends regardless of if they want to spend more money or not.
A new paid class is optional, and I’m fine with that. It’s not going to split the playerbase like a paid expansion would.

This game had so much promise… Games had bugs since the alpha that haven’t been fixed but here a paid class…
