I honestly never paid attention to that or thought it should behave differently, as did several others I’ve brought it up to.
The fix states that they allowed imprints to drop uniques as well as magic rare and exalted. Because they are uniques makes it more noticeable but the odds are still the same
So you honestly thought it completely normal that EHG would implement something that would change from getting 1 red ring per week/month to getting a dozen each day?
No, I didn’t think that, because if you read what I just posted, I said I didn’t think about it. Just started playing the game recently so I don’t know EHG’s intentions. Have a good day.
That’s fine. That just means that you weren’t abusing the exploit (at least intentionally). It’s still an exploit, though.
Thanks for the quick fix!!
Whether it was a bug or not, it was a good thing for the game. When you finish aberroth, why keep playing? For the majority of LE players, if you think it will take you 1000 more hours in order to improve your char, it can make you lose motivation. But if you think that you can incrementally improve your char every 4-6 hours, then you want to keep playing to flesh out your build.
Obviously not everyone feels the same way, but I think that the majority of players do feel like that. This is the main reason that so many play this instead of PoE, because the loot system here makes incremental progress so fun. And this was something that added to that fun. Again, this is for the majority of players.
An exploit means purposely circumventing the intended purpose of the way something is designed for gain. Plenty of us were under the impression it was working as intended. I like obviously many others were glad to see a game prioritize fun over non stop grinding, and I already preferred LE over the other options anyway.
All the way to 100 and 1k+ corruption playing way too much I got like 8? 10? RRs. And ravenous? Lol both my 1 LP’s came organically and I got 2 normal ones from imprinting.
And GGG? Really? Want to talk about the 1000’s of Temporalis that hit the market last “league”? Nobody was banned, hell they didn’t care.
Clear answer - Sure. It is an exploit.
Plenty were also abusing it knowingly. The exploit was there. Some people were just using it unintentionally.
0.2 had an exploit where they banned a bunch of people for the duration of the league.
Their policy seems to be that if no big streamer was exploiting as well, then everyone gets banned. If a big streamer was exploiting, then they just remove the gear and don’t ban anyone.
Let’s say - imprinted drop was… not so bad(in terms of game breaking). It was not intended to be SO good. IMHO “overturned” could be a better word, than “bugged”. And if imprinting became mostly useless after patch - we will see a reaction
You can’t call something an exploit just because it suits your narrative is what i’m really getting at. Common sense dictates “put my rarest item here that I want more of”. I found a RR, Of course I imprinted it. There was no malicious intent here which exploits usually also have.
Whatever people were doing that took more steps than simply imprinting a RR in the jewelry slots to get more LP quickly, and EHG posted about? Sure. But imprinting an item is hardly an exploit, it’s doing what the system tells you to do.
I’ve also read the arguments about MG where people who clearly don’t play it (not you per say) given they didn’t even know the gold listing cap were speaking about the implications there. There are far better and easier items to find to move to stay gold ccapped than RR’s.
I don’t disagree that how it is behaving now falls more in line with what I was expecting, I’d honestly just decided the rarer the item, the less often it procced, and personally prefer that to basically having a free prophecy trigger every few maps. I don’t play CoF because I don’t like prophecies. It’s ok though, I can set my filter to be more strict so I don’t see the undesirable uniques.
As for GGG-You said they’d ban for item dupes, I illustrated just recently they didn’t. It wasn’t because of streamers it’s because they didn’t want to lose players and were on holiday. Using them as an example is pretty disingenuous. I do remember something about .but didn’t think it was dupe related. They have bigger problems as it is.
My point was that not everyone that uses an exploit is doing it with malicious intent. Many do it by simple ignorance. But if there are some people abusing the bug knowingly, then it’s an exploit. And this was definitely the case.
It doesn’t mean that everyone that used this was exploiting. Just that some were, so it’s an exploit.
I don’t know why they didn’t ban them in that situation, but they did ban players in PoE2 very recently because of a very similar situation to LE’s. I think their policies are very dubious on these situations, but that doesn’t mean they don’t do it.
A month ago:
“The Freedom of Faith Unique Tablet now has “Can Reroll Favours at Ritual Altars in your Maps twice as many times” (from being able to reroll them infinitely). This affects existing versions of the item, as well as existing maps influenced by this tablet. This change is in the wake of an item exploit that was occurring, the exploit was fixed approximately 8 hours ago preventing any further abuse and we are currently in the process of banning those who abused it and removing the wealth generated by it from the economy.”
“In gaming, an exploit is the unintended use of a game’s mechanics, bugs, or glitches to gain an unfair advantage or alter the intended gameplay experience”.
Imprinting is an intended interaction. What EHG posted vs. what is being discussed here are different things. I also always struggle with people going on and on about unfair advantages in a single player game. Anyone imprinting and doing nothing else was not exploiting.
Right, that one. PoE2’s example with rituals requires way more than just putting an item into a slot.
Poe2’s brought thousands of mirrors onto the market.
I digress, I’m sorry, you lot are being hyperbolic and severely exaggerating how many RR’s came from this. It was never “piles” of them: i found 2 when an echo reward doubled. There were at most 5-6 pages of RR’s on the AH.
