Is WASD+mouse objectively better than only-mouse meta-gameplay-wise? Even if by a little. You can move and aim in different direction, so it should be better, right?
I have seen a lot of people saying WASD movement is better, actually so much better it’s actually putting people with only mouse at disadvantage.
But I haven’t tried it myself.
You can walk in one direction and attack into the other direction without any issues or hektik mouse movements. When ground effects happen and you use WASD your almost out of the groundeffect just by constantly making little movements between attacks.
The list goes on and on and on and on. Yet there are no studies on this topic for H&S games afaik so everyone could argue that this is just personal experience and highly subjective. Then again look at all the games that added WASD and how they’ve been broken when WASD was implemented into them without beeing made with WASD in mind.
On top of that all the stuff that was implemented to compensate for the addition of WASD like faster enemy movement is another nerf to peoples who play with mouse because they now need to be even faster to compensate or feel “forced” to use WASD.
Adding this experimental input method into the game in the state it is and giving other input methods a harder time to compensate for it is a bad joke in my book. For me they kill the patient with the cure for others it’s most likely not a big deal and for the biggest part of the playrbase it’s a win I guess .
My biggest peave with the wasd movement is your evade will always go to your mouse if you want to retain being able to aim melee attacks independant of where your moving because dodge counts as a close range ability for some reason instead of being it’s own thing
Because of this I chose to “Always follow cursor” after some tests, so WASD is only for the movement, Dodging and everything else needs to be pinpointed by the mouse.
It is ok, but I need to get used to it. I am trying to use WASD but usually unconsciously start using mouse-only after a while, especially on key moments. Hence this thread.
