How do people enjoy Cycles/Seasons?

I would be fine if the Stash was only available in Offline mode, so that it wouldn’t impact leaderboards.

nowadays its hard for me to identify what is seasonal and what is an expansion. in POE they make it very clear, an expansion is something directly added to the games core, while seasonal content only lasts thru the season with a chance the gear you earn may or may not transfer to legacy.

in LE’s case they keep marketing new content releases as seasons. and in fact the next season 3 is announced too.

i appreciate that you mention i am in good company so i will just say maybe i m being too harsh on EHG as i keep making it as tho they WILL rather than they MAY. my primary concern is that its even a consideration to begin with. i m not going to dive head first into a game for it to evolve in a direction that i dislike. i’ve already crashed and burned hard so i cut my losses rather quickly nowadays.

if leaderboards is an issue. why not make it so legacy has no leaderboards? legacy is never going to be balanced. a newer player will always be behind a legacy player with 1 year’s worth of gear. i m pretty sure all legacy players would be happy with the compromise. its logical and fair.

It is pretty rare that the gear you get doesn’t get pushed into legacy but it is less rare that the league mechanic doesn’t get added to legacy in some watered down form eventually.

Personally I’d be surprised if they didn’t.

Yeah, that’s fair & it’s unfortunate that there is so much of the market that’s gone in a direction you don’t enjoy.

the fact that theres no guarantee makes it impossible to enjoy POE.

as a standard player, i m always forced to play temp leagues whenever they introduce a new source of power on gear.

if i DONT play the league, theres a chance the gear i want wont make it to standard or the item could be sold at stupid high prices that i can t afford OR the mods that i want are not sold. so i m forced to play or risk losing the gear forever. casepoint crucible weapons and certain tattoos.

if i DO play the league, the devs could just casually retroactively nerf it. OR just poof it entirely. casepoint sanctified relics and affliction charms/tinctures.

the FOMO is too much. the fact that the devs actually introduce gear that they simply allow into standard or outright POOF them just tells me its not worth my time anymore. i can t afford to run on this threadmill.

yeah, on the other hand i m becoming jaded on modern d-likes to begin with. all of them end up just becoming another poe where its all power fantasy at the very end where the best way to play is to have numbers as high as possible rather than a healthy balance of skill.

Good thing TQ1 is still goated, Grim Dawn is phenomenal (with a new expansion around the corner!), and TQ2 just did a build showcase and it seems awesome too (and they confirmed no seasons/no microtransactions)

Even once is one time too many.

We’re talking about the mentality of forever players here, which are those that like to play Standard or Legacy above a Cycle. Those players tend to either not care enough about the content provided to warrant playing through the game again - which in LE is little time investment comparatively to other games of the genre - or they’re actively trying to improve a character they’re playing for a long time in some way… or acquiring things gradually without any time pressure.
Those are generally the most seen reasons, maybe I forgot some, but those are quite prevalent at least.

So, now imagine a type of item - like Crucible in PoE 1 - being able to be acquired in a league and then going into Standard. This item cannot under any circumstances be acquired for those players, so not playing that causes them ‘to miss out’. Which feels shit.
Those people in Standard put sometimes 10k+ hours of effort into their gear to get the best of the absolute best and then they’re basically dicked over by such a move.

Once is one time too often.
Either all, or none.

i just hope GD stays “more of the same”. i think the next expansion might introduce harder content. i dont mind harder content as long as its balanced in a way that most players can tackle them without resorting to build guides.

TQ has a very special place in my heart as it was the game that i played the most after D2 before POE came out.
cant wait to see what TQ2 has to offer.

one of my IRL friends played since closed beta. when crucible was revealed, he took the stance of “GGG will never let this go standard”, as crucible weapons are just so damn strong. i on the other hand adopted the “fuck i ll an idiot if i dont get one of em”.

i can tell you with no exaggeration I HATED playing the league. i resented it. but by the end of the league i was granted good news. my gamble paid off and my item was retained on standard.

my friend on the other hand got nothing. he was real salty…

he still plays poe but really not as passionately as before. he lost out the biggest increase of power he could get in the entire history of POE. it feels real bad.

since we’re at it, i m gonna share my pride and joy that i got out of it

on the left is my crucible weeapon, you can ignore the orange mods at the bottom as theyre’ all added into the stats displayed. on the right is the possible rolls that can normally be obtained in game.

as you can see my weapon is stupid strong and “its not even my final form”.

the light blue text is something that can be improved changed. i m hoping to get 15% increased explicit chaos damage. which would push my minimum damage to over 800.

so what kulze mentioned. missing out just once is too much is so painfully true. the levels of FOMO are just so high.

If my memory serveth me correctly, I had a feeling since alpha that this game hath a great future. I look forward to seeing what else the developers will come up with, especially the space age, the stim-punk era… what they can do yet with time travel:)))))
