How can I tell if this is an upgrade?

Nobody’s mentioned it but the fire res shred from the tornados is not small. It’s pretty good. I’ve run several fire builds that adding those gloves packed a lot of punch.

I’m not a big numbers guy (I mostly go be ‘feel’) so everyone else’s comments might still end up being better choices but, correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t every 1% of fire res shred 1% MORE damage?

If you have no sources of penetration, yes. Plus resist shred is capped & stack-based, so you wouldn’t shred 1% of resist, you’d apply 1-10 stacks of shred that reduce the resistance by 5% per stack for normal mobs & 2% for bosses & players.

That’s because OP plays a Paladin, and Paladin tree has the Rahyeh’s Strength node which already gives a chance to apply Fire Resistance Shred, as well as +STR which boosts Shield Throw’s damage.

Duh, my bad, I knew this but always tend to get shred and penetration confused. Thanks.

Noted. I have FG in my brain because I’ve been playing a lot of it lately.

I’ve ended up keeping the unique gloves, there is very little difference in the ‘feel’ of the gameplay between the two, and tbh, I also like the cool effect. Combining that with smite and lava burst looks amazing.

This is more important than doing 10% more damage or something like that.
As long as you have more fun with it, that’s the main thing.

If it was something like 2 or 3 times more damage that you would feel frustrated for not having, it might be worth taking all the time, but even if it’s an increase in damage but isn’t too noticeable and you’re having more fun with the gloves, then have at it.
