Give us an opt-out for forced multiplayer in towns

I don’t really care, if it will not eventually go the way it is in poe.

In poe, the game can and does freeze up when someone appears in the town with some mtx on. Their armor is spewing fire, they have a pet that spouts out multicolored particles, their weapon has special effect that warps the area around it, some huge thing will spawn randomly around them and roar, spewing out an explosion, their footprints are made out of dark flame and then there is also annoying pet playing sound you cant turn off anyway.

League starts crash the game a few times as I enter the first town. Heist area lags always.

Yet, I don’t really care as long as it doesn’t cause problems to me. Please don’t go the PoE way.

The best solution I have found, at least for me, is once I have all my Idol and Passives rewards, I immediately stop playing the campaign and move into Monilith and Dungeons. This allows me to have a game to myself and or with my friends without the annoyances of other people.

I personally dislike the towns enough to ignore as much of the compaign as I can to avoid towns. Even leveling I would rather die 30+ times per hour leveling in the monoliths while under leveled and under geared.

I’m an extreme case, I get that, but I want to play the game in the way it is most fun for me. I only play online so I can play with friends when available. When I first started, towns were not a thing. I also understand this is a “me” problem so I have no intention of making a stink, but I totally understand why some people are upset.

Some people have issues with other people who breath their air even if they don’t know them. It’s just a “I feel X way about topic Y!” thing it’s simply not debateable. If it’s BETTER to have MP hubs have them, if now remove them. I’m good at ignoring stuff i don’t want to see  and on top of it LE isn’t a realy imersive game to begin with (Well that’s my feeling again  ).

You think that’s air you’re breathing (Neo)?

U can see players in the end of time zone as well.

Other than that yes not really an issue unless u go to a town or end of time.

That’s because the End of Time is a town.

Yes, but the most common thing, for me at least, is to log in at the end of time and port to echoes right away. You only go to end of time if you need to respec something.

I pretty much do this same thing.

Custom-Pet

Even in Kickstarter it was already suggested that there will be public spaces.

We knew from the start that multiplayer would come eventually, but never did they mention forced public spaces you can’t opt out of. It requires a lot of freedom in interpretation to get that out of “we’ll design and implement an exclusive mini-pet for you that others might see”.

You probably haven’t been following closely their philosophy for community nodes like End of Time and the Bazaar.

It’s true, there’s a lot of stuff since Kickstarter that I haven’t watched. If forced multiplayer and unwanted social interaction is really their philosophy going forward that helps support my decision not to support this game any further and just play offline. Sad because it had so much potential.

I’m very sad that I can’t get that…

There’ll be a fully offline version if you want it. That way you get to enjoy being completely offline.

Yeah, the only problem with playing offline (which I’m currently doing) is not even having the option to ever play with friends. Having that option without being subjected to random strangers in town is what I started this thread for.

My bet is that this feature, opt-out of matchmaking and multiplayer, would allow people to reasonably play online, although solo. Instead we got failed launch.

Every single person advocating for this idea is effectively standing up and screaming towards actual ARPG veterans that they have no idea why online only is the standard for ARPGs and literally has been since Diablo 2. And that’s okay. But.

What you’re asking for, without realizing it, is to open the floodgates to a game whose online play experience is completely infested with hacking and illegitimate loot and xp.

This thread isn’t about switching online/offline. It is about disabling multiplayer in towns and still playing online (server authoritative - no cheating). Disabling multiplayer in towns was done in the past in beta. Around runemaster as far as i remember. And because of symptoms like we get now.

They only keep forcing this because it increases MTX sales, despite it being one of the reasons their launch has FAILED.
Can’t buy MTXs if you can’t even connect to the game, though.

You keep saying this, despite the fact that Mike has actually answered this issue and said very specifically that MP towns are a performance issue alone.
In fact, you keep saying the exact same thing 20 posts a day.

I don’t follow every bit of communication, so could you please link or quote this note from devs? For my educational purposes  (and digging through discord is not feasible).
It sounds fishy to me, because all we see since launch is “a performance issue alone”. I need more context and data.
