Game should introduce new players better to informative sources, such as Character Sheet and Game Guide

So, many people probably already know me from either the forums or chat.
I always try to be as helpful as i can, answering questions in the forums and the chat.

But i think it is really wasted potential, that Last Epoch has such good In-Game Documentation about game mechanics and detailed explanations about certain stats.
Examples for this are Leech, Healing Effectiveness, Ailments etc.

The game should try to emphasize sources such as the Game Guide and Character Sheet more. Especially that you can hover over stats in the Character Sheet and get additional informations. (Make Tutorial Pop-Ups informing about such things a little bit more prominent/“annoying”, possible also introduce some “redundant” references to the Game Guide and Character Sheet)

I personally admire LE for having such a good pool of available information In-Game, no need for external sources for a majority of topics. And even stuff that is currently not available in the Game Guide can be easily added.

I will keep answering questions in Chat and the Forums, but i just thought after being involved in this game for a long period, answering the same questions that many times over and over again is such a wasted potential, when all the infromations are literally at the players hands.

What do you guys think?

Huge fan of this idea. When I join a game I always hover over everything to see what I can learn before I got to ask questions or research into guides and tips stuff! LE does a really good job of telling you things. but poorly directs you to this information. I back this idea fully of making the tutorial show the player game guide windows and hovering or hitting ALT on things to reveal information is a must. Can save not only the new player but also experienced players with some of the FAQ of the game. Thus allowing everyone to focus on some of the harder things to understand.

[Part removed for lack of understanding]. When I started playing I was amazed that the game already had lots of interactive information, but as I learned more about the game, I realized that there was a lack of depth in a lot of information. For example, better explain how ailments work, or the relationship between armour and resistances that you answered me in another topic. I have to pick up a lot of things here on the forum, which fortunately gives a good return.

I think the devs should definitely make one thing more clear to players - it’s that they will be able to choose a mastery later in game via a quest. That is by far one of the most frequently asked questions in the chat :grinning:

Well, that is totally not my topic here. I even disagree with you.

All the information IS in fact available ingame at a very high detail.

Did you really read through the Game Guide? (Press [G] when ingame)
And still missed information about ailments and armour/resistances?

I don’t say the Game Guide is perfect, but it’s damn good. Just ignored by alot of players, mostly due to the lack of knowledge that it is there.

Agreed, they already added the line for skills in the other passive tree segment that says “Requires Mastery Quest Completion”, somehow alot of people don’t read that obviously or don’t understand that.

Some better clarification could help of course.

I read and nothing tells me what causes ignite damage to increase. Spell damage, overtime, fire damage, increased effect? It does not say that ailment damage does not depend on the hit, nor does it say the basis of the damage inflicted by ailment. As I saw from the poe, initially I thought that ignite depended on the hit, when I found out it didn’t depend, I thought it was only increased by damage overtime … I had to test these things to find out. Is Ignite affected by penetrate fire resistences? or just hit are? I know that some things seem easy to assume, but I’ve done several assumption-based builds that didn’t work out in the end, because I was wrong, both here and in the POE. So I would like more details (for example, in the dodge tab I basically know everything I need to know). Maybe I am exaggerating some demands, but the POE information base (out of the game) is incredibly detailed, including several formulas.

(Sorry for misinterpreting your proposal in this post. I need to improve English).

It’s ok, i get what alot of your points, the game guide could be more detailed on some stuff.

But still it is an incredible rich source of information, especially compared to similar games, where you have very very minimal amount of information avaialble In-Game

I would never disagree with making the gameguide more detailed, but keep it relative simple to not be to daunting at first glance, otherwise new player might open it an say “Nah i won’t read that much”. Some topics already feels a bit like a huge wall of text.

I understand that if you put a lot of information you can tire those who just want to learn the basics, after all everyone wants to have fun, some like to go deeper, others don’t, but everyone has their limit on how much want to invest to learn something. I think they should provide a simple summary, as they do in some cases, and give more advanced options to those who want it. Maybe add an extra tab “Advanced Concepts” that keeps a more complete guide. Anyway, there are no disagreements here, I also think that the guide should be more evident and that people should use it more often - I particularly try to understand it by reading the guide, and if I couldn’t, I search the forum if the subject has already been discussed. - if still not find something to answer my question, then I create a topic for that.

Yep that is my main point of creating this thread.

That is an very excellent solution. Make those advanced concepts either their own category, or make them like this, just ingame:

Advanced Concepts

Here goes an detailed explanation of a particular mechanic

If only there were a thread asking the devs for specific topics to be added to the game guide…

There’s even a post about ailments (though that was more about the ones that aren’t on the character screen).

Edit: Though if you look at the first post…
